When tears are not enough
Tears for Ukraine.
Tears outside a Covid hospital room.
Tears after more tornado and forest fire devastation.
Tears of pain;
the pain of hunger, the pain of isolation, the pain of not knowing where to sleep tonight, the pain of abuse, the pain of losing oneself, the pain of mental confusion and illness, …
Tears at the Cross of Christ.
So much pain. So many tears.
But tears are not enough
in the face of illness, brutality, injustice, environmental degradation, neglect, abuse, home and food insecurity.
During these next few days of the Christian Passover, Jesus teaches us about tears. He teaches us what to do with our tears. He teaches us what can become of our tears.
Our tears can bring about a change of heart, a shift in our way of thinking, new behaviour – repentance.
Our repentance can bring about greater love in our heart, new thinking, a transformed life, a transfigured world – resurrection.
FaithWorks is an effort of our Diocese to offer new life from loving hearts
when tears are not enough.
It is a witness to the presence of the Resurrected Christ living and working among us. It is an opportunity for you to be the helping and healing hands of Christ, which can wipe away tears.
I ask you to wipe away someone’s tears
by helping through FaithWorks. Donations can be made to FaithWorks through your parish, in response to our Easter mail appeal, online at faithworks.ca or using the above QR code.
