Respect Life Month Outreach Opportunity at Parishes
Each of our four parishes is sponsoring a Respect Life Outreach Project known as "Pennies from Heaven." Since 1994, the Diocese of Orange has been collecting funds to support local shelters, clinics and centers that give immediate and long-term care to women, men and families in crisis. This year your donations support: Casa Teresa, Precious Life Shelter, Obria Medical Clinics, Horizon Pregnancy Clinic, La Habra Life Center Pregnancy Clinic, Mary’s Path, Life Center of Santa Ana and the Vietnamese Hot Line. Our parishes will be collecting donations the entire month of October. This year we will not be giving the students the baby bottles to fill with donations. Our pastors invite you to please participate in this Outreach Project at your parish. Thank you!
First School Mass
Our first school mass will be held on Monday, October 12. Our fourth grade classes have planned this mass. This event will include our parish priests, some staff members, fourth grade students and teachers only, due to COVID-19 regulations.
Food for Friends Food Drive
Our next "Food for Friends" monthly food drive will be this Friday, October 16. Please use a grocery bag from home and have your child(ren) drop the food bag in the bins located around the morning drop-off traffic pattern when they exit your vehicle or, they may bring it to their homeroom any day this week if that is easier.
Great ShakeOut
The Great Shakeout

While COVID-19 has brought many uncertainties and challenges, one thing's for sure: The Great California Shake Out is still happening this year on Thursday, October 15.
Red Ribbon Week

St. Serra will celebrate Red Ribbon Week the week of October 26-29. This year's theme is Be Happy. Be Brave. Be Drug-Free.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Conferences will be held Wednesday, October 28, Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30. Please read more to view sign up information.
Student Symptoms Guide
We've had many questions from parents about our health policies for the 2020-2021 school year. We have included the link to the Student Symptom Decision Tree provided to us by the OC Health Care Agency for your reference. Please use this guide to assist you when your child is ill.
Extended Care Update
We are happy to provide drop-in services to families that give us notice ahead of time! If you need same day extended care, please text (949) 609-9720 or email [email protected]. You will need to provide the expected pick-up time, and be prepared to send a text message upon your arrival on campus for pick-up. Questions? Contact Jessica Garcia at [email protected] if you have any further questions.
Friday, October 23, has been changed to a minimum day so St. Serra can conduct a deep cleaning of our entire campus. Please make this change on your calendar!
Please make sure your student is coming to school with their 9"x12" or 8.5"x11" Sketchbook on their Art Day(s). Not having their sketchbooks delays the artmaking process AND can/will be grounds for demerits for not being prepared for class.
Need a sketchbook? Order one from our online Spirit Store now!
We highly encourage students to bring bottled water or reusable bottles filled with water from home in order to hydrate during the school day. For those who forget, yard supervision will offer bottled water on an emergency basis. They will be sold for $1.00 each at the MEC lunch counter starting Monday, October 12.
Donations Welcome in Lieu of Parent Service Hours
We are waiving the mandatory Volunteer Service Hour Requirement for this school year. However, we still need you! We welcome donations in lieu of this year's service hours
At this time, the Live Streaming Option is only available for students who have opted into the program or for students that are absent for a prolonged period of time due to sickness. While it may seem like this is a great solution when a child is on vacation or out for a day, it requires a great deal of work for the teachers and cannot be used for these purposes. If a student is out sick or on vacation for a short period of time, students must follow the grade level's procedures for making up work.
