SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS

January 13, 2022

Dear Roslyn Families,

As a follow up to my letter earlier this week addressing important changes to the COVID-19 Quarantine/Isolation guidelines for K-12 classroom protocols, New York State Department of Health has now implemented the following Quarantine/Isolation protocols for after-school and extracurricular activities specifically. Please note that these protocols do not apply to Extra Help.

Quarantine Protocols for students exposed to someone with COVID-19:

  • Vaccinated students with Booster: No restrictions apply. Students should attend classes, and may participate in after-school and extracurricular activities. This includes fully vaccinated 5 to 11 year-old children who are not eligible for a booster. If an individual develops symptoms of infectious illness they MUST stay home and be referred to their healthcare provider for care, regardless of vaccination status.

  • Vaccinated students without Booster: Restrictions apply. Students should attend classes. Individuals 12 years and older who are eligible for a booster, but not boosted may NOT participate in after-school and/or extracurricular activities for five days after the day of exposure. If an individual develops symptoms of infectious illness they MUST stay home and be referred to their healthcare provider for care, regardless of vaccination status.

  • Unvaccinated students: Restrictions apply. These individuals may NOT attend classes or participate in after-school or extracurricular activities while adhering to the quarantine period (5 days). If an individual develops symptoms of infectious illness they MUST continue to stay home and be referred to their healthcare provider for care, regardless of vaccination status.

Isolation Protocols for students testing positive for COVID-19:

  • All individuals regardless of vaccination status who test positive for COVID-19 are subject to a 5 day mandatory isolation period. If an individual has symptoms of infectious illness they MUST continue to stay home and be referred to their healthcare provider for care, regardless of vaccination status.
