-------Fr. Deo Kaundula was able to enjoy a month praying with, living with, and celebrating with parishioners. The following letter expresses his gratitude for the welcome and memories made with him during his visit to St. Mary’s. -----

-------Your generous support to the Seminary Collection this weekend is appreciated.

Members of the Knights of Columbus have been spotted around town and outside the church entrances graciously receiving your donations to support them in their support of individuals with intellectual disabilities. The Knights generously support the SPRED program here at St. Mary’s.

-------Each fall I make an annual retreat, usually to my “spiritual home away from home” in Gloucester, Massachusetts. This year my retreat will be a walking Camino in the Footsteps of St. James in Spain. Over the course of 8 days I will be praying and walking/hiking/reflecting over 100 kilometers to the Church of St. James/Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain. The basilica has historically been a place of pilgrimage on the Way of St James since the Early Middle Ages and marks the traditional end of the pilgrimage route. I will be carrying the needs and intentions of parishioners with me on my Camino/retreat. Your prayers for a safe and spiritually renewing experience are appreciated.

-------God bless you in “Eucharistic lives” of gratitude, generosity, and compassion,

Dear Parish Family,

Every year, the deacons of the Archdiocese of Chicago come together to celebrate the feast of St. Francis. The St. Francis Dinner is the sole fundraiser of the Diaconate Council. Deacons, priests, bishops, parish leaders, family, and friends come together to celebrate and thank the Diaconate Community for its faithful service. This year the St. Francis Dinner will take place on Sunday, October 1 at 4:00pm at Elmcrest Banquet Hall, 7370 W. Grand Ave., Elmwood Park, IL. 60707.

There are three ways to support the diaconate community and the St Francis Dinner: (1) purchase ticket(s) or a table for the dinner, (2) make a donation by writing a check, (3) make a donation as a parish to thank your parish’s deacons and support the Diaconate Community.

Funds raised from the St. Francis Dinner assist the following activities: several charities that serve the poorest and most marginalized (orphans, the mentally ill, the homeless, and the recovering), continuing theological and ministerial education for deacons and wives, a mutual aid fund for deacons in need, and operating funds for the Diaconate Council.

We are asking for your prayers and support. We are a nonprofit organization and all donations qualify as a charitable donation. Donations can be mailed to the Office of the Diaconate, 816 Marengo Ave., Forest Park, IL 60130. Please make checks payable to the Diaconate Council.

Thank you for your continued support of the deacons of the Archdiocese of Chicago. We truly are blessed to be part of St. Mary’s.

May God continue to bless and guide you!

Deacon Jack and Catherine Herrmann and Deacon Bob and Marietta Thomas
