Our Golf Outing is coming up August 3rd!
Dear Friends of the Arts,
We have been so grateful to find our mailbox filled with new and renewing memberships! Member dues and gifts are so important to us. They make it possible for us to offer events for donation only or at a low cost, so everyone can access the arts, not just those who can afford it. That is an important part of our mission. And we still have some major building loans to be paid, so we try to squirrel a little aside every month to take care of those. Thank you so much!
We hope those of you who are golfers will “swing into summer” at our Golf Outing on August 3 at Eagle Ridge. Details below!
I look forward to seeing you at our opening on July 28. We’ll be celebrating exciting new art as well as giving tours of the theatre and backstage areas. If you can’t make it on Friday, but would like to get a tour, give me a call and I’ll be happy to take you around.
Hope you are enjoying an art and music filled summer!

A John Macdonald watercolor in the Opposing Forces exhibit
The July 28th Opening Reception is one you will not want to miss! We will have exciting new art on the walls of the Regional Arts Gallery, which will feature whatever artists choose to submit. The Special Exhibit Gallery will display art that depicts the theme of Opposing Forces – sure to stimulate thought and discussion.
We will have live music once again during the reception, this time provided by Jim Mantey. And, in celebration of a working elevator, we will be giving elevator rides with our very own elevator operator. Tours of the downstairs theatre space will also be available. Plan to join us on Friday, July 28 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. for an exciting evening of art, wine, hors d’oeuvres, music, and elevator rides.
The current exhibits will be up through September 24.
Special thanks to Exhibit Sponsor: Eagle Ridge Realty

Space Scapes Felting Class
by Larissa Distler
Thursdays, September 7, 14 & 21, 5-6:30pm
| |
Milky Way felted piece by Larissa Distler
If you have visited our Center, you have likely admired Larissa Distler’s felted jewelry in our gift shop and her art in past gallery exhibits. Larissa, a self-taught felter of nearly twenty years, will teach an introduction to pictorial needle felting for beginners through slightly more intermediate. In this class, students will learn about the different supplies, needles, and roving needed for needle felting, which is a dry technique - no water is used. By the end of the class, students will have a finished felted space scape, mounted in an embroidery hoop for hanging and a set of needles, foam, wooden grip, and leftover roving to keep.
The felting class will run on three consecutive Thursdays, beginning on September 7 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Click here for additional information and to register.

Shades of Blue
An introduction to indigo, the world’s oldest natural dye
by Patricia Lehnhardt
Friday-Saturday, September 8-9, 9am-4pm
| |
You still have time to register for this fascinating class that combines the plant world with the art world. In this two-day class, Patricia Lehnhardt will guide you through how to grow the plants in your own garden, process the leaves into a dry pigment to use later, and do fresh leaf dyeing on wool yarn and silk fabric. Lehnhardt will guide participants in using powdered indigo from India to make a ferrous vat to dye cotton and linen fabrics, paper, and learn more ways to use the pigment, such as ink and watercolor paint. Click here for additional information and to register.

Time to get involved! We still need greeters for the gallery and volunteers to help with serving at openings, ushering at music and theatre events, garden maintenance, painting, and more!
If you would like to help out as a greeter, please go to
Signupgenius.com and scroll down to choose the dates you would like to help. It’s not hard, and it’s so much fun to meet other art lovers and show off our wonderful new space. For other volunteer opportunities, email Carole.
Thanks so much!
