Happy New Year and Happy 35th Anniversary, BWLA!

I hope everyone feels rejuvenated from a wonderful Holiday break.

As we enter a new year, I encourage you to reconnect with BWLA! We are on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and now GroupMe! We also have some member exclusive events coming up that you don't want to miss, so please take a moment to pay your dues! You can easily do so by heading to the membership page on our website here.

Upcoming Events
Start the New Year off right by focusing on clean eating and establishing habits that will have a positive impact on your overall health. Discover which foods induce cravings, cause inflammation, and contribute to many other issues in your body.

For 30 days, participants will follow the  Whole30 Program with the support of other BWLA members and the guidance of certified Whole30 Coach, Alexis Robertson.

BWLA Donates to the Salvation Army's Angel Giving Tree 2021
BWLA's Community Service and Outreach Committee dropped off all the gifts for children in need to the Salvation Army's Robert Stern Red Shield Center located in Englewood. We would like to extend a huge thanks to everyone who donated to and coordinated this effort!
Civil Rights Action Committee Gets Focused
On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, BWLA's Civil Rights Action Committee (CRAC) hosted a brainstorming session which provided BWLA members an opportunity to express ways in which BWLA can best serve the legal field and the greater Chicago community.

The consensus was to focus on community policing, CPS discipline practices regarding student interactions with police, and legislative policing policies. CRAC is planning to host a policing event in late February. Please be on the lookout for that program announcement soon!!!
BWLA Members Attended the Cook County Bar Association's Holiday Party
Many BWLA members celebrated the Holiday season at the Cook County Bar Association's 2021 Holiday Party on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

Join us in congratulating BWLA’s administrator, K Rhea, also known as “Coach K,” on her historic role as the first Black woman head coach of the DuSable Panthers, a high school football team comprised of students from Daniel Hale Williams Prep High School and Bronzeville Scholastic Institute, both located at the historic DuSable Campus.
Coach K’s journey to becoming the First Black woman to lead a Chicago Public League Boys Football Team and the positive impact she’s having on the student players was recently featured on WTTW’s Chicago Tonight.

Connect With Bar Leaders at the National Conference of Bar Presidents Midyear Meeting
