Central Office School Support: School Assignments and Next Steps
Dear Central-Support Team,

As you know, during a time when our schools are struggling to keep the doors open for in-person learning, we need our Central Office team members to step up once again and put Students First by supporting in our schools and classrooms. Thank you to the more than 900 team members who completed the survey sharing your preferences and experience. Your dedication to our schools and students is clear, and your support will truly make a difference in our kids’ lives. Thank you.

As we get ready to go into our classrooms, we wanted to share these assignments, as well as what to do if your name isn’t currently on the list.

View School Assignments
Click here to view the current list of Central Office team members initially deployed to schools, beginning tomorrow. (Those team members assigned to a school tomorrow should also have received a separate email earlier today.) Please note the school, assignment and day of the week you are scheduled. We will continue to monitor school staffing needs based on health conditions. We will plan to provide you with an update by the end of January on COVID conditions and staffing levels, including an update on Central Office support to schools.

Next steps:
  • Plan to report to your assigned school on the morning of your assigned day. Our support in schools will begin tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 13. If you are assigned to report on Thursday, please plan to go to your school tomorrow.

  • The principal of your assigned school should be reaching out to you with a specific reporting time, as well as information about your duties and how to communicate with the school. If you do not hear from your principal prior to your first assigned day, please report at 8 a.m., and find your school’s start times here. Once on site, connect with the principal to understand your assignment and what time to report in the future.

  • Unlike last year, we are asking our Central Team members to report to their assigned school on every day they are assigned. So if you are assigned to report on a Friday, please report to your school every Friday until further notice.

  • On your assigned day, please put up an out-of-office message on your email, letting others know that you are supporting in a school.

  • Remember to wear your DPS ID badge when supporting in our schools.

  • Your manager will work with team members to adjust current projects and timelines to ensure you are able to prioritize your time in schools. It’s not up to an individual employee alone to find ways to manage their workload -- the team’s manager and SLT member should help prioritize and find the right support to keep critical work moving forward.

  • Extra-duty pay will be provided in alignment with how school-based staff are compensated for extra coverage. Details are outlined in our FAQ. Please be sure to complete this timesheet and submit your hours in TruePay.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your manager or email central_officesupport@dpsk12.org.
Those Without an Assignment
If your name isn’t on the list above, you are not assigned to a school at this time. Staffing assignments were made to support schools that are currently facing the greatest staffing challenges. Because health conditions continue to evolve, you will be contacted directly if you are needed at a school. Many of our schools not currently identified as highest need are also facing staffing shortages; team members not assigned at this time are strongly encouraged to support in schools on the day of your choosing using the SmartFind system. You will receive an email from the Guest Teacher Program once you are set up in the system and can review Guest Teacher, SPED and ECE Sub Para positions. We will also have your information on standby if a school is in need of school-support functions, such as lunch room and recess duty.

FAQ and Resources
We hope every team member feels supported and comfortable as they step into our schools. To help, we have put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions that address the background behind this decision, information on reporting to schools, extra duty pay and more. Please review that here

Additionally, for those reporting to our schools, be sure to review this list of resources on The Commons to ensure you are prepared to support our schools.

Health and Safety
Keeping our team members and students safe continues to be our number one priority, and we have robust health and safety protocols for our schools. In addition to these, and always following the DPS 5, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has recently shared that in order to be considered fully vaccinated, educators should receive their third COVID vaccine booster by Feb. 1. Those who aren’t able to get their third booster by that day could be subject to quarantine if they are exposed.

Schedule a vaccine or booster appointment online or by calling 303-602-8958. You can also contact your healthcare provider or visit the state of Colorado’s vaccine website to find an appointment that works for you.

Thank you for stepping up to keep our students’ education moving forward, and fulfilling the call that brought so many of us here -- to put Students First and make a difference in their lives.
