NCJW Special Event with

Rep. Anna V. Eskamani to explore how the Florida courts are in jeopardy of being gerrymandered

Sept 28th on Zoom at 7:00 pm

In June, Florida Speaker of the House, Paul Renner, sent a letter to Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Carlos Muniz asking for an assessment of the Florida Circuit Court System. Specifically, calling for a consolidation of the 20 courts. The Judicial Circuit Assessment Committee has been formed to carry out this dangerous endeavour. The assessment has begun and during an August meeting the committee heard public testimony from state attorneys, state lawmakers, private practice attorneys, public officials, and private citizens which resoundingly held that the court system should be "right-sized" not "down-sized". Most agreed that consolidating the courts would be nothing less than "gerrymandering justice".

The Courts Matter Florida Coalition will be hosting "Gerrymandering Justice - Florida Courts In Jeopardy" on Thursday, September 28 at 7pm. State Representative Anna V.  Eskamani* will be joining us to inform us about the ramifications of consolidating the courts and to frame this latest political shift.

Please REGISTER HERE and join us.
