Hello Everyone,

 

EAOP is hiring Family College Advisors for the 2023-2024 academic school year. This is a part-time hybrid/on-campus position open to undergraduate freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. Work study is not required but is highly desirable. Starting date is October 15, 2023- June 30, 2024 (possibility of continuation to the following year).

 

MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 15-19 HOURS A WEEK; MONDAY-FRIDAY (2PM-8PM),

SUBSTANTIAL EVENINGS, AND WEEKENDS

 

Role of a Family College Advisor

·  Provide college knowledge information, advice, resources, to support the EAOP seniors and their family

members.

·  Communicate weekly with advisees and assist them with college, financial aid, dorm, and scholarship applications.

·  Update, maintain, and process student files and information.

·  Meet weekly with the Student Manager to discuss, plan and report on engagement activities and assignments.

·  Attend all mandatory monthly training workshops, programs, and Saturday Professional Development sessions 

Qualifications

·  Be committed, dependable, flexible and organized.

·  Have some knowledge of matriculation to the UC and other segments of higher education.

·  Have strong written and presentation skills.

·  Have some experience with academic advising, tutorial and/or mentoring students and families.

·  Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and maintain effective work relationships.

·  Must have basic keyboarding skills with knowledge and understanding of computer technology and office software. Ability to write and speak a second language is highly preferred, but not required.

·  Skills to perform administrative and customer related tasks.

Funding Opportunity

We just wanted to provide some information about funding that is available to Undergraduate students.

COSAF oversees a fund titled, Student Development Funds, which helps to defer the cost of student travel to conferences, conference registration fees, cost of certifications, and other professional development type activities and events. Undergraduates can receive up to $500 per academic year and applications open September 25th.
