Nease High School Junior/Senior Prom 2022, “A Starry Night”

Friday, April 15 – No School!

NJROTC captures 3^rd at National Academic, Athletic and Drill Championships. For all of NJROTC’s successes over the past years at Area-12 competitions, the team has not achieved similar results at the national championship, where Nease has not won a single trophy in five years. Competing against the top 27 of the 643 NJROTC programs across the country from Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Tampa, Houston and beyond, Nease flipped the script in 2022, taking home trophies in 11 of the 13 competition categories enroute to a 3^rd place overall finish. The team placed 1^st overall in Unarmed Basic Drill and the 16 x 100 Relays. Individual team commanders Kaitlyn Boggs (1^st in Unarmed Basic Drill & 2^nd in Personnel Inspection), Isabella Rivera (4^th in Unarmed Exhibition Drill) and Brodie Mongon (5^th in Armed Basic Drill) led their respective teams to top finishes. Emmelie Neff finished 2^nd in the nation individually in Situps with 315. 

Nease Track & Field will be selling graduation yard signs for $35. Forms will be at the front office and Coach DeVos’ room (P50). Please return all order forms and checks to Kristen Conway at the front office no later than April 22^nd.  Please make the $35 check made out to “GPBC Track and Field”. Orders are due no later than Wednesday, April 22^nd. All orders will receive email verification. Deliveries will arrive in the middle of May and can be picked up at the front office. Thank you for your support!

All scholarships will be paid directly to the school the athlete will be attending and comply with all NCAA guidelines. This is a fun competition of flag football between the grade levels, and it is also a scholarship fundraiser for senior participants. On Thursday April 21^st the Freshman will take on the Sophomores at 4:30pm in the stadium, followed by the Juniors vs the Seniors. Practice will be held afterschool on Tuesday-Wednesday April 19-20^th. Information sheet with more details and registration forms are in the front office. Must sign up by April 8^th to participate.

Help Wanted! We are looking for volunteers during EXCEL time in 2022! EXCEL takes place on Wednesdays from 11:00 am-12:30 pm. Sign up for one session or as many as you would like. Nease Academy Seniors in the Engineering, Communications or Hospitality Academy are eligible to apply for the Wayne D. Hartley Scholarship. Two students will be selected for the one-time $1,000.00 scholarship. If an Academy student checked “No” on the Intent to Return roster in December, to indicate that he/she does not want to continue in the Academy next year, a Program of Choice Drop Form will be sent home for the student and a parent to sign. This form needs to be returned to confirm that the student would like to be removed from the Academy for the 2022-23 school year. If a student decides that they want to leave the Academy, but checked “yes” on the Intent to Return, they can email Mrs. Combs at Jaime.combs@stjohns.k12.fl.us to request a drop form.

P³ Poetry April 20th!

Our 5^th P³ (Panthers, Poetry, & Prose) Annual Poetry Slam will take place Wednesday, Apr. 20^th at 6 p.m. here in our media center with a special performance by our FANTASTIC AND TALENTED acapella group “Voices of Nease”. Please join us as we transform our media center into a “coffeehouse” with a mic for some amazing performers as they share their own personal works. 1^st place prize is $50 CASH! This event is open to family and friends, however, we do need to have a head count of how many folks will be attending so we prepare for seating and will be serving snacks and beverages.  If you will be attending, please click on the link below and RSVP Monday, Apr. 1t8h. Thank you so much and LET’S GET READY TO SLAM!

STUDENTS! If you would like to perform in the poetry slam – you MUST see Mrs. Milian in the media center by Thursday, April 14^th THE LATEST!

Parents & students – we have had a sharp decline in the number of students staying for help on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please remember – this is a FREE service offered to ALL students every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-5 pm in the media center. Each day we have between 10-14 National Honor Society Juniors & Seniors ready to help you get back on track with your grades. And remember-- EOC’s, FSA’s and final exams are right around the corner!! Use these days as opportunities to get some extra help and support with the topics you are still struggling with and get extra help with preparing and studying for finals. You can also come in for tutoring at 8:15 a.m. on any morning Mon-Fri BUT you have to make an appt. with Mrs. Milian for this. The LAST DAY for after-school tutoring will be Thursday, May 19^th! We will NOT have tutoring days during the last 2 weeks of school. 

Media fines emails went out last week. If you received an email notification indicating fines, PLEASE read through it carefully as it includes information and steps on paying fines online. If your student has any fines on his/her media account, PLEASE take care of these as soon as possible, ESPECIALLY SENIORS! Juniors and Seniors with any fines on their account will NOT be allowed to purchase prom tickets and Seniors will not receive graduation tickets until these fines are satisfied. Students can also pay by cash or checks made payable to Nease HS. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
