Good News!
Several Nease Track & Field athletes recently delivered the top performance in Florida this season!
- 110m hurdles and 300m hurdles, boys: sr. Cyrus Ways, winner of the elite Florida Relays (110m) and FSU Relays (300m)
- 800m run, boys: sr. Rheinhardt Harrison
- javelin, girls: fr. Alexa Bohanon
- high jump, girls: jr. Sasha Gregory, jumping in only her second meet ever, #1 in class 4A and #6 overall
Nease Girls Track & Field dominated the inaugural Tocoi Creek Toro Showdown last Friday with a team victory and first place in each of the following events:
- discus and shot put: sr. Hannah Sutter
- 100m and high jump: jr. Sasha Gregory
- 1600m: sr. Audrey Singletary
- javelin: fr. Alexa Bohanon
The boys' team finished second, winning the 4x800 relay, the 200m (so. Da'von Patterson), and the top 4 finishes in the 800m, led by Rheinhardt Harrison.
NJROTC captures 3rd at National Academic, Athletic and Drill Championships. For all of NJROTC’s successes over the past years at Area-12 competitions, the team has not achieved similar results at the national championship, where Nease has not won a single trophy in five years. Competing against the top 27 of the 643 NJROTC programs across the country from Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Tampa, Houston and beyond, Nease flipped the script in 2022, taking home trophies in 11 of the 13 competition categories enroute to a 3rd place overall finish. The team placed 1st overall in Unarmed Basic Drill and the 16 x 100 Relays. Individual team commanders Kaitlyn Boggs (1st in Unarmed Basic Drill & 2nd in Personnel Inspection), Isabella Rivera (4th in Unarmed Exhibition Drill) and Brodie Mongon (5th in Armed Basic Drill) led their respective teams to top finishes. Emmelie Neff finished 2nd in the nation individually in Situps with 315.

If A Student Wants To Leave An Academy for 2022-23
If an Academy student checked “No” on the Intent to Return roster in December, to indicate that he/she does not want to continue in the Academy next year, a Program of Choice Drop Form will be sent home for the student and a parent to sign. This form needs to be returned to confirm that the student would like to be removed from the Academy for the 2022-23 school year. If a student decides that they want to leave the Academy, but checked “yes” on the Intent to Return, they can email Mrs. Combs at Jaime.combs@stjohns.k12.fl.us to request a drop form.

If An Academy Student Is Zoned for Beachside HS for 2022-23
Students who will be zoned for Beachside High School in 2022-23 but are returning Nease Academy students can remain at Nease. These students will then be designated as out-of-zone Academy students. The St. Johns County School District does not guarantee transportation to students attending an out-of-zone school. Because transportation is not guaranteed to out-of-zone students in our district, families need to discuss whether they can provide transportation to students who are zoned for Beachside High School, if the district doesn’t provide bussing. As long as the student can provide transportation, keeps an Academy course on his/her schedule every year, and remains within Academy grade and behavioral guidelines, he/she can attend an out-of-zone school.

If you have any questions about the Communications Academy, Stellar Academy of Engineering, or Academy of Hospitality & Tourism, reach out to Academy Coordinator Jaime Combs, at Jaime.combs@stjohns.k12.fl.us

We will NOT have tutoring days during the last 2 weeks of school.

TEXTBOOKS AND MEDIA FINES
