ASH WEDNESDAY & LENT INFORMATION
Ash Wednesday and Lent
Ash Wednesday is February 17. We will have open house hours for anyone who would like to come by the church to have ashes placed on their foreheads or hands. You may come anytime between 3 and 4 pm or between 6 and 7 pm. We will be outside by the garage, please wear masks and social distance.
Ash Wednesday is also the beginning of the church season known as Lent, a time of preparation and remembrance as we move towards Easter. This year, we will offer Lent in a Bag, containing small items as a focus for reflection and prayer. Each item will be the center of one of Rev. Martha’s Sunday messages during Lent. Lent in a Bag will be available when you come for ashes, or you may request they be mailed to you (please request a mailing by February 8, to ensure the bag reaches you in time).
AURORA PRIDE - SELLING SINGING TELEGRAMS!

Aurora Pride is selling virtual singing telegrams for Valentine's Day! Supporters may purchase a video telegram of a song performed by a local musician. The musicians have volunteered to record a video of their performance. Aurora Pride will then send out the digital telegrams with the senders’ warm wishes to friends and family.

Telegrams are available for purchase via aurorapride.org

Telegrams are available in 3 formats:
General ($10): Aurora Pride will send an email to the recipient telling them that the purchaser has sent a singing telegram. The email will contain a link to the song.

Personalized ($25): The video will be specific to the recipient. The video will contain slides with the recipient’s name, the sender’s name, and an optional brief message from the sender.

Custom ($50): The recipient will get a personalized (as described above), PLUS the performer will mention the recipient in the video. Quantities are limited.
Ordering deadlines vary by product. Custom telegrams must be purchased by Monday, February 1. Personalized telegrams must be purchased by Monday, February 8. General telegrams are available through February 12.

All proceeds from the program will go toward the Aurora Pride Parade (or 2021 alternative, pending health and safety guidelines).

Aurora, IL Pride wishes to thank the performers who have volunteered to share their talents for this project: Alli Carroll (from the band Sweetie), Nicole Mullins, Kenneth Lambert, Kevin Trudo, Michelle Lee, and Michelle Curiel. SPIRITUAL ENRICHMENT
Looking ahead to the new year, Rev. Martha would like your input on what kind of studies or discussion groups would be most interesting for you. It could be a Bible study (history of the Bible? a specific book of the Bible? A specific topic like ecology or wisdom or salvation?), or a book study (what book or books?) or a discussion/support group (physical health, finances, prayer, etc). Drop an email revmarthadaniels@gmail.com or text to Rev Martha!
