Flu Shot Information for Fall 2022

Mark your calendars! The Republic School District staff flu shot clinic is scheduled for Thursday, October 27.

More information will be coming soon!

Jordan Valley School Based Care

At the Republic School District, we are grateful for our continued school-based health clinic partnership with Jordan Valley Health!

Jordan Valley's mobile unit will continue well-child checks on the second Monday of every month throughout the school year on school campuses. See the graphic for additional dates.

In addition, our school nurses can coordinate with Jordan Valley Health to set up a virtual visit during the school day with a Jordan Valley doctor or nurse practitioner for any student that is sick and needs to be seen by a practitioner for the following illnesses: strep throat, ear infection, sinus infection, rash, pink eye, stomach flu, bug bites, lice and congestion. The student will be able to return to class OR they will be given a diagnosis and will be ready to go home. If necessary, the provider will call in a prescription to the patient's pharmacy for them to pay for and pick-up.

This partnership is made possible primarily by funds provided by Jordan Valley Health Centers. Beyond office space for the on-site community health worker, this program has no other financial obligations for the district. Parents will never receive a bill for care. If the patient has insurance, that insurance will receive the bill. If the patient does not have insurance, Jordan Valley Health Center covers the cost of the visit and patients only have to pay for prescriptions, when needed.

This service will be optional, but available to all students. Registration forms will need to be completed before students can be seen. You can print a form and return it to school at http://ow.ly/yweH50KET2c. We're excited and thankful for this opportunity to partner with Jordan Valley Health Center!

COVID-19 Testing and Vaccine Information for Staff

Testing: If an employee tests positive for COVID-19 with an at-home test, documentation of a positive test from a healthcare provider is required to utilize the COVID-19 leave employment benefit. The following is a list of resources for COVID-19 testing:

  • The Springfield-Greene County Health Department testing appointments and information, including a detailed map of many other testing opportunities, can be found at https://health.springfieldmo.gov/5129/COVID-19-Testing or by calling 417-874-1211. Health department testing is located at 227 East Chestnut Expressway at no cost.
  • Most locations of Wal-Mart and Walgreens offer drive thru testing. Cost depends on insurance coverage but will most likely be covered if the patient is symptomatic. Ask when you make the appointment.
  • Testing can also be scheduled via local healthcare providers. Again, insurance will most likely cover the expense to test symptomatic patients, but you will want to ask when you make the appointment.
  • Additional free testing sites (at pharmacies sponsored by U.S. HHS) are available. You can find those sites at https://doineedacovid19test.com/

VaccinationsIf you are seeking a COVID-19 vaccination or booster, the CDC website offers the most recent guidance. The following is a list of resources for COVID-19 vaccinations:

  • Visit vaccine417.com for a list of walk-in and appointment opportunities.
  • Vaccines are available at most local pharmacies.

Check for vaccine appointments at https://www.vaccines.gov/.

American Fidelity Visits

American Fidelity Assurance Company representatives will be in the district to provide the yearly employee benefit package review. This review is provided annually to all employees who work 20 hours or more, which include voluntary benefits offered through payroll deduction, plus the benefits of Section 125 Flexible Benefit Plan. Open enrollment for ancillary products will begin September 19 and run through November 3. This is the window of opportunity for employees to change or add American Fidelity products for an effective date of January 1, 2023.

Each employee who qualifies (20 hours or more, double route bus drivers, and part-time retirees) for the 125 benefit program must sign off that they have been given the opportunity to view available products offered. Please know that no one should feel pressured to sign up for any product. This is the only opportunity for individuals who want added insurance to sign up for these benefits/services. The Individual meetings are mandatory to eligible employees in order to keep the district compliant with the legal IRS guidelines.

Your building/department will share the date(s) in which American Fidelity will be in your building/department and also directions on how to sign up for a time slot.
