  • Disneyland Resort is eager to welcome home cast members and guests on April 30. After one year of closure, a phased reopening has been released that highlights health and well-being as a top priority. JUMP TO ORANGE TIER MAY BE ON HORIZON:*
  • As OC’s case numbers continue to decrease, the more relaxed orange tier may soon be a reality. This week positive tests hit a new low of 2.2%, a mark that has not been previously hit since the summer surge. If trends continue to hold, OC may only remain in red tier for a few weeks and then transition to less restrictive orange tier. Read more.

CHRYSALIS GIVES BACK WITH FUTURE IS WORKING FUNDRAISER:*
  • Chrysalis has partnered with OC Community Foundation and ten aligned nonprofits for a 24-hour online effort on March 25 to strengthen OC workforce opportunities. Chrysalis aims to counter pandemic economic fallout through workforce development. The Future is Working collaborative Giving Day will support local nonprofits with a philanthropic base. FOUNTAIN VALLEY APPROVES BROOKFIELD’S MOIOLA NEIGHBORHOOD:*
  • On March 16, Fountain Valley City Council unanimously approved the Moiola Neighborhood, a 74-unit housing development by Brookfield Residential that will transform the blighted former Moiola Elementary School site into a vibrant community.   • Under the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program both income-eligible renters who experienced pandemic related financial hardships or landlords who experienced income loss due to unpaid rent are eligible for financial assistance. To apply or check eligibility requirements, click here.

ADVOCACY UPDATE
JOIN OCBC AND U.S. CHAMBER FOR A CONVERSATION WITH REP. YOUNG KIM (CA-29):*
  • This informal conversation on March 22, will be part of the U.S. Chamber’s new “Back to Business” series that aims to break down the barriers between government and the public through intimate conversations and get back to the business of governing. The goal is to spend time with new members of Congress and learn more about them, their lives, their careers, their passions, and what inspires them. OCBC SUPPORTS CALIFORNIA TOURISM RECOVERY ACT:
  • Although Disneyland and other amusement parks will be able to reopen soon, the tourism industry sorely needs support from the State. SB 285 (McGuire), the California Tourism Recovery Act, would provide Visit California with $45 million to implement their “Calling All Californians” campaign to jumpstart travel when it is safe to do so. Domestic leisure travel offers the best immediate opportunity for invigorating Orange County’s economy after the pandemic. Read OCBC’s letter here.

  • Edison International has teamed up with Outsmart Disaster Campaign to offer resources and tools to mitigate business interruptions in times of a hazard or natural disaster. Resilient Business Challenge is a new program that focuses on preparation and recovery from disasters.   • Habitat for Humanity OC is set to host its second annual Building Dreams Drive on March 24.
