Circuit Rider 32 to offer

three special programs

The West Virginia United Methodist Men, in cooperation with WVU Jackson’s Mill, will offer three special programs for Scouts and Scout-age guests during Circuit Rider 32 at Jackson’s Mill.

The special programs are: 1) Historic Area Program, featuring a demonstration of an operational gristmill; 2) Outdoor Recreation Program, including a mountain bike course and a group ride around the grounds; and 3) STEAM Program, in which youth will practice problem-solving skills as they use the engineering design process to create, build, test and improve a drone.

Each program will last approximately one hour and will be led by a program coordinator from Jackson’s Mill. Scouts and scout-age guests may participate in one, two, or all three special programs for a $10-per-person fee.

The special programs will be in addition to the numerous free activities provided at Circuit Rider, such as the frozen T-shirt contest and the cast iron cook-off.

Circuit Rider 32 will be Sept. 9-11. For more information contact Scout Coordinator Ralph Herron at (304) 366-1851 or West Virginia United Methodist Men President George Hohmann at g.hohmann48@gmail.com

Nominations sought for W.Va.

‘United Methodist Man of the Year’

Do you know an outstanding United Methodist man who has a lifetime of service to a United Methodist Church and the community, who is of Christian character, who has served in leadership roles, and who has faithfully fulfilled church membership vows by prayers, gifts, service and witness?

Those are the basic qualifying criteria for a man to be honored as the “West Virginia United Methodist Man of the Year,” the highest honor bestowed by the organization.

The honor, established in 1954, is bestowed in September during the West Virginia United Methodist Men’s Annual Gathering at WVU Jackson’s Mill. This year’s gathering will be Sept. 9-11.

To nominate someone, a letter of nomination must be sent to George Hohmann, president, W.Va. United Methodist Men, 1 Vest Pl., Charleston, WV 25314-1137.

For additional details about the honor and a list of past recipients, visit the West Virginia United Methodist Men’s website at wvcummen.org
