Dear Residents -

Unfortunately, we have all heard about the highly contagious delta variant that is causing COVID-19 cases to surge across America. The good news, however, is that severe disease and death is highly unlikely among the vaccinated. If you have not yet received the COVID vaccine, please reconsider and register to get one at a New York State vaccination site or a local pharmacy, such as CVS, NeighboRx, or Rite Aid. Let's all work together to put this pandemic behind us.

This past week was a busy one for sure. I had the pleasure of joining the "Heritage and History" winners at the Orangetown Historical Museum (including Town Historian Mary Cardenas), presenting certificates to the scholarship winners at the Rockland GAA, watching the first Mixed Doubles Pickleball Tournament at Veteran's Memorial Park, and spending time with Cardinal Dolan at Boulder Stadium after he threw out the first pitch of the game.

The Friday night Rock the Park Concert Series continues tonight with the Mystical Majesty Band – a Beatles cover band. The concert begins at 7:45 pm, is free and open to the public. Bring your blanket and chairs and enjoy a night of music under the stars.

Looking for something different to do this summer? Camp Shanks Museum is open on weekends during August from 12 pm until 4:00 pm. It is located behind the Orangeburg Library. Take the kids and see what Orangetown looked like back in the 1940's and how our troops persevered through World War II.

Last but definitely not least, best of luck to our very own South Orangetown Little League 12u Girls Softball Team as they head to North Carolina next week to play in the World Series. Good luck ladies!
