In this season of giving thanks, the SRL Foundation wishes to acknowledge the Library staff who’ve worked hard to serve the community and keep patrons, kids and families engaged and connected in 2021.
Did You Know…
- The Library currently has 4,425 library cardholders!
- In 2021 the Library offered 13 new events, courses, exhibits and programs in addition to their 10 regular ongoing programs and clubs!
- This year the Library also began collaborating with two other libraries to offer virtual tours and classes to our community!
- Our children’s librarian created 14 different “make-and-take” science & craft kits this year. Over 1,100 craft kits went home to local families, and two outdoor art workshops for teens were offered and well attended!
- We keep you connected – literally! The Library offers 24-hour Wifi access to the community – join from our yard, your car, or from a cozy chair inside. Printing services are also available – print directly from your phone, tablet, laptop, or use one of the Library’s guest computers.
These programs and services were made possible because of our generous donors. Your support gives us the power to keep making a positive impact in the communities we serve and is an investment in the Library’s future. Your gift, no matter what size, helps strengthen our services community-wide.
We invite you to make a year-end donation to keep the momentum going strong as we head into 2022 together. Read our President’s End-of-Year Letter HERE, and CLICK HERE to support the Library Foundation by donating today!

Tea Time
Book Group
Wednesday, December 8
12:30 in the Activity Room
The book for December is The Summer Before the War by Helen Simonson. It is the end of England’s brief Edwardian summer, and everyone agrees that the weather has never been so beautiful. Hugh Grange, down from his medical studies, is visiting his Aunt Agatha, who lives with her husband in the small, idyllic coastal town of Rye. Agatha’s husband works in the Foreign Office, and she is certain he will ensure that the recent saber rattling over the Balkans won’t come to anything. And Agatha has more immediate concerns; she has just risked her carefully built reputation by pushing for the appointment of a woman to replace the Latin master. When Beatrice Nash arrives with one trunk and several large crates of books, it is clear she is significantly more freethinking—and attractive—than anyone believes a Latin teacher should be. For her part, mourning the death of her beloved father, who has left her penniless, Beatrice simply wants to be left alone to pursue her teaching and writing.

Mystery
Book Group
Wednesday, November 17
11am in the Activity Room
The book for December is The Watchman: a Joe Pike novel by Robert Crais. Larkin Conner Barkley lives like the City of Angels is hers for the taking. Young and staggeringly rich, she speeds through the city during its loneliest hours, blowing through red after red in her Aston Martin as if running for her life. Then suddenly she sees another car’s metal-on-metal explosion of a terrible accident and, dazed, finds herself the single witness in a secret federal investigation. For maybe the first time in her life, Larkin wants to do the right thing. But in doing so she becomes the target for a relentless team of killers. And when the US Marshals and the finest security money can buy can’t protect her, Larkin’s wealthy family turns to the one man money can't buy―Joe Pike.

Clio's Muse
A History
Reading Club
Wednesday, December 8 Zoom meeting at 7pm
We are reading Presidential Courage: Brave Leaders and How They Changed America, 1789-1989 by Michael Beschloss. The authors' dramatic and inspiring saga explores crucial times when courageous presidents changed the history of the United States. With surprising new sources and a dazzling command of history and human character, Beschloss brings these flawed, complex men and their wives, families, friends, and foes to life as if in a gripping novel. Never have we had a more intimate, behind-the-scenes view of presidents coping with the supreme dilemmas of their lives.
