Hello Fellow Chinook Members,
Since we only had one Rally in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we never had our Annual Meeting with Elections last September. We decided to postpone this meeting to this year in September when we will have our Annual Meeting with Elections at the HEBER City Rally.
Great news we’d like to share! Thanks to our wonderful neighbor across the street (he works for MemorialCare Medical Group), long story short, we got our Covid-19 shots this past Sunday (Feb 7) late in the afternoon!
I know some of you might be hesitant to get a vaccination, but I urge you to get one. I firmly believe this is the only way that we will be able to get past this terrible pandemic.
We do have some rallies planned for 2021, and we hope many of you will want to participate. It will be challenging to attend a rally under COVID conditions, but be assured we are planning to keep all of us safe with strict adherence to all local and prevailing standards at the planned rallies.
The 2021 QUINCY Rally has been CANCELLED!!
We have good news and bad news. The good news is that we found out on Christmas Day that another grandchild is on the way. The bad news is that the little bundle is due in May, and we don't want to be away from home at that time. Since no one in the club was able to take over as hosts, we had to cancel this rally. BUT if members still want to visit the area, Pioneer RV Park is a GREAT destination in Quincy, CA, in the mountains of Placer County. Quincy is an historical town, with lots to see and do, many restaurants, museums, etc. We can make it a FLASH Rally - just see the article below for details.

|
It’s my privilege to welcome the following new members. Thank you so very much for joining our club, and we hope to see you at future rallies!
- Tom and Jan Vala - Portland, OR
- Alan and Julie Weeks - Anacortes, WA
- Alysen Hesselroth - Othello, WA

We are very sad to have to say goodbye to our friend and fellow Chinooker Kelli Scheese, She will be missed. We want to express heartfelt and sincere condolences from all the members in the club to Jerry Scheese and his family.
Kelli passed away in January. She had been having seizures over the past two years, and was hospitalized at least twice, but there were no diagnoses. She leaves Jerry, her husband, four children and several grandchildren. No services were held.

|
Kelli loved to travel and camp. She and Jerry are Charter Members of our Chinook Club.

Given everything that has been going on, the publishing of the hardcopy directory is somewhat behind this year. I hope to get it out before the first real rally! Meantime, here is a link to the electronic version: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZQYR-nG2HF5DKbN9Rii26olh5QyczcTi/view?usp=sharing. Please review your entry and let me know if anything needs updating so I can get the changes into the printed version. I also am aware that I have not updated the photo directory lately...a task I shall assign myself to complete this this month.

To Join the Chinook RV Club Facebook Page
|
|
Our Facebook Page is private and hidden, so if you haven't already joined, there's a little process you need to follow:
- If a club member wants to join our club's FB page they must first be signed up with Facebook.
- I can only send invitations to FB Friends, so send me a friend request.
- I will then issue an invitation to the club's FB page, which the member must accept to complete the process.
- Then, I will “unfriend” the member in my personal FB account. Please do not take this as a slight! Our friendship will still exist at the Chinook RV Club page, but there is no telling if our social media preferences align, and I do not want to take a chance that our individual preferences would in any way endanger our Chinook related relationship!

THE CHINOOK SONG (OPUS THREE) by Al Enriquez 9/17/2003
(Sung to the tune of On Top of Old Smokey)
|
|
WE ARE HAPPY RV'ERS
WE SELDOM GET SHOOK
AND OF ALL OUR POSSESSIONS
WE LOVE OUR CHINOOK
WE TRAVEL THE HIGHWAYS
WITH NO CARES TO BEAR
WHEN WE STOP AND HOOK-UP
MOST PEOPLE STARE
THEY GATHER AROUND
TO ADMIRE OUR RIG
WE ASK THEM INSIDE
IF THEY'RE NOT TOO BIG
REFRAIN
WE'VE TRAVELED THE COUNTRY
AND WHEREVER WE ROAM
IN OUR TWENTY-ONE FOOTER
WE NEVER MISS HOME
|
|
WE GO EAST AND WEST
NORTH AND SOUTH TOO
WE FACE HILLS AND MOUNTAINS
THEY'RE EASY TO DO
WITH ONLY TWO SEATS
IT IS QUITE A THRILL
TO NOT HAVE TO WORRY
IF GRANDKIDS ARE STILL
TRAILWAGONS GO FORWARD
KEEP CHINOOKS WITH ZEST
FOR AS LONG AS WE'RE ABLE
WE'LL BE DRIVING THE BEST!
WE ARE HAPPY RV'ERS
WE SELDOM GET SHOOK
AND OF ALL OUR POSSESSIONS
WE LOVE OUR CHINOOK
