November 18th - December 15th

Once again, Temple Emanu-El is partnering with Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley to fulfill the Chanukah and holiday wishes of families and seniors who would otherwise go without gifts. To maintain the safety of JFS staff, volunteers and clients during COVID 19, this year wishes will be on a virtual dreidel board.  Visit the JFS SV SignUpGenius page at


Temple Emanu-El + Second Harvest Holiday Dinner Drive
Join Temple Emanu-El as we support Second Harvest of Silicon Valley in their annual Dinner Drive. Every donation helps to provide meals for families in need. Any amount goes a long way to feeding those in our community.

Tikkun Olam: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion working group has been busy meeting with Clergy, Administration, Education, Membership, and leaders of Brotherhood and Sisterhood, as well as putting together presentations for the Board of Trustees. Each group is setting DEI goals. 

See how the Tikkun Olam Committee is working to help educate out different organizations, and how you can be more aware of what you say.

ZIGZAG: Grandparents Group

We will discuss ways of developing positive relationships with our grandchildren. Grandchildren have different personalities and needs which make them unique, but sometimes also challenging. One question among many will be, do you need to treat all of your grandchildren equally? We look forward to hearing your ideas and strategies for developing positive relationships.

JFCS: Chasing Childhood
Tuesday, December 14th // 7pm

We’re pleased to share the opportunity to attend a free special event, hosted by JFCS’s Center for Children and Youth. On December 14, join Dr. Madeline Levine and Dr. Ken Ginsburg as they lead a community discussion based on the documentary Chasing Childhood. This powerful film explores the lack of free, independent play for today’s children, and what can be done to bring it back.

Tot Shabbat

Shabbat Shalom! We are excited to be bringing back our in-person Tot Shabbat services! This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your family to experience Shabbat with Rabbi Magat and Cantor Shafritz. Ths service is designed for families with young children.

Shabbat Shalom! Come join Rabbi & Cantor for the LAST, in-person Shabbat of 2021! Come sing, pray & enjoy oneg with the clergy and your fellow congregants.

The next 2 weeks will be Shabbat at home & then a streaming Shabbat service.

Mussar Torah Studies Group

Temple Emanu-El Adult Education invites you to join an interactive course on The Mussar Torah Commentary: A Spiritual Path to Living a Meaningful and Ethical Life.

Mussar teachers through the centuries have sought deep, accurate, and useful insights into human life. The commentary looks to the Torah as a source of fundamental guidance for human living.  

Israeli Dance
Tuesday, December 21st // 7:30pm

Great exercise! Great fun! Great chance to meet new people!
Put on your dancin' shoes and come to our free Israeli dance class taught by our very own Loui Tucker. No dance experience necessary and we welcome everyone from the community to join in the fun.


Sisterhood MahJong Cards
Want to play Mah Jongg? The Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood is now selling Mah Jongg cards! They are $10.00 for the large and $9.00 for the regular cards. Checks can be made out to "Temple Emanu-El Sisterhood" and be mailed to Bobi Levine.

URGENT: JFS Assistance with the Refugee Crisis

Help today!
Help Respond to the Current Refugee Crisis: Did you know that in Santa Clara County, Jewish Family Services of Silicon Valley is one of only two nonprofits providing refugee resettlement and connected services for families and individuals?

Currently, JFS SV is assisting refugees from Afghanistan and other locations. If you are interested in learning more, have questions or ideas, or would like to provide support to refugees in other ways, please contact JFS SV volunteer and refugee housing committee member, Debbie Michels, debbiemichels@yahoo.com, 408-507-1282. March of the Living
April 24 - May 8, 2022

The Western Region March of the Living is a go! This year, thousands of Jewish teens will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to travel through Poland and Israel to honor victims of the Holocaust and the strength of our Jewish people.


The application is live on motlthewest.org.
The fee is $5950 and does not include domestic travel. 

Scholarships are available through Jewish Silicon Valley's Teen Israel Trips fund. To apply for a scholarship, click here.
