The Falcon Flyer - Website Edition
January 15, 2022
Dear Rondout Families, Faculty and Friends,
We have had a whirlwind first week back after break. COVID has been a challenge and we have worked through those challenges with the support of our faculty, staff and our families. Thanks to everyone for their cooperation and support.

Just a reminder that Monday is a school holiday in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday. Classes will resume on Tuesday January 18, 2022. After school activities (with the exception of BASE) will continue to be on hold until further notice.

The first of two vaccination clinics will be held at Rondout this morning sponsored by Illinois Emergency Management and the Illinois Department of Public Health. Vaccines for individuals ages 5 through adult will be available along with boosters for those eligible. Registration is encouraged but appointments are not necessary. The clinic will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and participants are asked to enter at the South entrance. The clinic will take place in the gym and is open to the public.

Despite the COVID challenges, we plan to continue in-person learning by focusing on continuing or strong set of mitigation protocols.  Please try to follow the 3 W’s, make good choices about activities you participate in and keep your children home if they are sick.

Wishing you an enjoyable long weekend.

Stay Safe ...Take care… Until next time-
Dr. Jenny Wojcik
Schedule Changes Effective 1/10/2022
Due to the COVID surge, we will not be offering after school activities other than the BASE program until further notice. In addition all field trips will move to a virtual format to support student safety and staffing needs.
Notes from Our Principal
Ms. Elizabeth Davis
Greetings Families and Staff,

Happy New Year and welcome back to Rondout. I hope that you all enjoyed winter break and had an opportunity to rest and recharge during the time off. Thank you to all the parents and families for their partnership this week, as we continue to navigate new guidance from the state on top of our return to school after break.

Our 8th grade families should have received communication from Libertyville High School regarding a virtual orientation presentation. 8th grade families should continue to look for information regarding course selection, counselor appointments and other information about the transition to high school.

For our younger students, this is a reminder that students should have snow pants and snow boots to play in the snow. A change of clothes is also important for our K-2 students to have at school, just in case! The snow is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our students’ creativity.

Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th, grade students participated in virtual field trips this week with Illinois State Beach Park. They learned lots of information about native bird species and the role they play in our ecosystem. A special thank you to Mrs. Jacob for providing additional information for students about birds.
On a final note, our spelling bee has been postponed to Wednesday 1/26. We look forward to cheering on our grade level winners during the school event.
Have a wonderful three-day weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone next week.
Best,
Elizabeth Davis
