Food for Thought
1) Cypress Creek seniors' FAFSA completion rates to date:
(Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
* 32.4% percent of CCHS' senior class have completed the FAFSA according to the latest data from the Florida College Access Network as of Jan. 29; see all OCPS high school completion rates
** Please complete this form if you have questions about college financial aid.
2) Some positive news for the CCHS Class of 2021 on college costs ...
On Wednesday, Feb. 10 the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released their latest inflation report showing that the prices for college tuition and fees have been declining and are presently up only +0.4% on a year-over-year (YoY) basis. However, this does not mean our Bears should not finish their FAFSA paperwork ASAP. It simply means that their college financial aid dollars can actually be stretched a little further.
Note: CPI YoY = Consumer Price Index Year over Year percentage change (lower percentages are more favorable for our college bound students)
3) Youth mental health crisis in the US. Cypress Creek's experienced counselors are ready to help any of our Bears whenever needed - click here for their names and contact info. Please never hesitate to contact your counselor as they are more than happy to help in any way they can!
4) We wrap up this week with a chart aimed at all of our CCHS dog lovers!
Monday's Motivational Moment
"A year from now you may wish you had started today.” — Dr. McHale

Lots of people have goals and ambition but many fail to take action on them from the very beginning, and most of the time, getting started is already winning half of the battle. The "compound effect" is an extremely powerful tool that many people overlook when they are pursuing a goal or their dreams. For example:
Just 1% improvement daily gets you 37.78 times further than where you started, but just 1% decline daily nearly puts you back to actually below zero or worse off vs. from where you started.

Many people always wished they have done something different in the past but many of them never thought about doing something different now and have a drastically different future.

The lesson for our Bears? If you have goals and ambition, start now as we only six weeks into 2021. Work at it daily no matter how small. It will take you way, way further than waiting for the right moment to strike and further than you could've ever imagined!
Happy Valentine's Day and enjoy the President's Day Holiday!
