go2HR is the health and safety and HR association
for BC’s tourism and hospitality industry
With the recent COVID-19 “circuit breaker” restrictions announced by B.C.’s Provincial Health Officer (PHO), Doctor Henry, restaurants, bars, pubs and other food and liquor service establishments have been substantially impacted. Employers are looking for options to help support and retain their employees, particularly through the next few weeks.

Strong communication plays a critical role in employee retention. Be sure to provide lots of open, transparent and ongoing communication with staff. Keep them informed about changes in the business, what they are and how it will impact them – personally - in their employment. Encourage employees to ask questions.

Short-term changes in operations may mean needing to adjust schedules, reduce hours, encourage vacation time, etc. Where possible, encourage discussions with employees and include them in decision-making. Not only does this help generate buy-in, they may suggest options that you hadn’t previously considered.

To All Of Our Food & Beverage Partners
Monday's news from the BC PHO is devastating for all of your dining establishments. Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Radium are working with our partners and business support teams to understand how we can best support your business and encourage those in the Columbia Valley to support local, order take-out and enjoy available patios.

We are in the process of updating the following link https://travelcolumbiavalley.com/blog/restaurants-dining/ and develop some social media outreach and sharable graphics over the coming days. We are currently populating operating hours from your website, social media or google business listing. If you believe your hours will change or are different than posted, please send our Visitor Services team an email at info@radiumhotsprings.com or send a message/share your graphic to https://www.facebook.com/TravelColumbiaValley or https://www.facebook.com/ColumbiaValleyChamber/.

If you have a patio that is open, or going to be open in the next few weeks please send us an email. Also, any other special things you are doing to increase your sales do let us know. Pictures are always a great way to share your story so please share those with us as well and tag us in your posts.

Also, please join the Columbia Valley Food Service group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2728205783972212/about to stay connected and updated on local supports and initiatives.

Here are some tips from the BCRFA:

Some BCRFA tips to maximize take-away and delivery and adjust as we head into Easter weekend.

1. Create family style dining menus for pick-up
2. Create a package that includes wine and cocktail packages
3. Create an Easter dinner package that is all prepped and guests will cook at home
4. Add chocolate Easter themed gifts/eggs to packages for families
5. Create picnic basket style dining for those families that will be gathering outdoors to meet in a park for Easter
6. Work with your local food delivery and increase your dining menu
7. Update your website with take-away ordering menus as people move from reservations to dining at home
8. Get your patios up and running and move reservations outside

Thank you for all you do and please feel free to reach out to either of us at anytime.

Sincerely,

Pete & Jessica.

11th Annual Local Government Update
Save The Date!
The Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce postponed our Annual Local Government Update this year in hopes that we would be able to gather once again for an in-person luncheon.

As that does not seem to be an option in the foreseeable future, we have decided to take this event online.

Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 15 at 9:00 am MST.

Registration details to come!
