Dear Parents/Guardians,
Van Cortlandtville Elementary School began a lockdown drill today at 9:30 a.m. NYS State Troopers, Westchester County Police, Peekskill Police, Yorktown Police, and our SRO participated in this drill. The school was placed in a hold-in-place following this drill until all the officers released each room. This drill was successfully completed at 9:45 a.m. without any issues.
There are several different drills held throughout the school year. As a school community, we can never be too cautious when it comes to the safety of our children. The purpose of these drills is to review all safety procedures and protocols. We would appreciate your cooperation and assistance in continuing the discussion of safety with your child at home.
