Chapter 20: Clear Eyes, Full Heart

Sit Down Before Reading Cover.png

Sit Down Before Reading is an epic medical memoir unlike any you've ever read. This unbelievable story of stories is unfolding in near real time. That means the conclusion of this tale isn't written yet... because it hasn't happened yet. The story I'm telling will challenge the medical establishment to reexamine life with a debilitating disease, send reverberating shockwaves throughout the disabled community, rewrite the rulebook of healthcare (God willing), and potentially change your entire future. I recommend you buckle up and hang on, it’s going to be one hell of a rip-roaring ride. A new chapter releases every Wednesday here:

David, by stopping antibiotics, had I lost my mind (again)? I wanted to soar skyward, lift above the clouds. But after months of failing to get appropriate treatment for my Lyme disease, it was hard not to get demoralized. Then an unusual opportunity presented itself: an opening to tell my story to someone in the halls of power who would listen. Chapter 20: Clear Eyes, Full Heart releases today along with a preview for Chapter 21. Below is the direct link to the home page of Sit Down Before Reading: A Memoir where all available chapters are displayed. Don't like clicking links in emails? BONUS CONTENT: Recommended Lyme Books

To get a better understanding of Lyme disease, I turned to recommended books. Along with Mr. Douthat’s The Deep Places, I purchased Conquering Lyme Disease: Science Bridges the Great Divide by Brian A. Fallon, MD and Jennifer Sotsky, MD and the award-winning book Cure Unknown: Inside the Lyme Epidemic by Pamela Weintraub. All were extremely helpful, with Fallon’s being the most insightful into neurologic Lyme. Links to all books are posted in the Misdiagnosed forum on our website.

Clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose. That would have been a perfect slogan for Sit Down Before Reading had it not already been used by Coach Taylor, with great effect, in a motivating pregame pep talk from the show Friday Night Lights (https://youtu.be/fQPe4RigYmg). Go get ‘em, Dave, rahhh! And that is how I succumbed to a perfectly timed, unexpected request that showed up in my email’s inbox. A request to speak to Congress (well, not all of Congress, mind you, that’s for later). I reasoned that if Franklin Delano Roosevelt could move mountains on Capitol Hill from his wheelchair, so could I. My fight to get proper treatment for my Lyme disease continues to ratchet up in this latest chapter. Be active, stay fit, and keep exploring!

p.s. iConquerMS, a highly respected organization I used to volunteer for, just released their newest newsletter with an article about Lyme disease and multiple sclerosis: Lyme Disease—A Ticking Time Bomb. I recommend you give it a read (and thank you, ICMS, for the plug!). If you have not yet joined the nonprofit, please do so. The data they collect from patients like yourself could be key to unlocking MS secrets.
