Message from the Interim Executive Director
Dear Colleague,

Happy New Year!! Thank you so much for your amazing courage, your creativity, and your total commitment to a just, equitable, and vibrant world -- even in the face of tremendous loss and enduring uncertainties. It is my fervent hope that as we gather our strength and forge ahead, we will continue to connect and collaborate – perhaps energized by our first-ever National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman:
New Lyric  (excerpt)

Know what we've fought
Need not be forgot nor for none.

It defines us, binds us as one,
Come over, join this day just begun.

For wherever we come together,
 We will forever overcome.

Throughout the year, NAMC produces mixers, reports, trainings, forums, and our wonderful awards celebration. Please read on for links to great resources and opportunities and let us know right now what you need to succeed in 2022!

Interim Executive Director

FOCUS ON THE FUTURE FORUM! Highlights and Appreciation
When NAMC recently asked prominent elected officials how nonprofits can create powerful partnerships and access new resources in 2022, we were thrilled with their willingness to fully participate in our forum “Focus on the Future” – by sharing insights, ideas, and new information. Deep appreciation to Mary Adams, Monterey County Supervisor District 5 and Incoming Board Chair; California State Assemblymember Robert Rivas; California State Senator John Laird; and United States Congressman Jimmy Panetta -- with additional support from their staff who stayed active in the chat! Special thanks also to Yadira Sandoval Hobby for her great work as our moderator and to production support by Mike Buffo’s team at House of 8 Media.

Among the highlights: learning how budgets are developed and how to pursue county contracts, learning how valuable coalitions are to moving legislation and increasing funding; learning more about the possibilities for nonprofits in prospective federal initiatives under review in 2022. Thanks to our partners such as Packard Foundation and Community Foundation and Rayne Technology this forum was provided at no charge and is now available to view or share with your board or staff: https://houseof8media.com/portfolio/namc-focus-on-the-future/

Watch out for new programs in our next newsletter and bulletins. To share your own ideas for future training or other programs, please send a note to: paulettelynch12@gmail.com
Congratulations!

Fair Pay for Northern California Nonprofits: The 2022 Compensation & Benefits Survey:
Attract and Retain the Best Employees for your Organization in 2022 and Beyond

Now open for participation, with new questions about DEI practices, a revised Economic Environment/COVID-19 Pandemic section, and new jobs in the Administration, Education, Operations, and Social Services/Behavioral Health areas

As our communities continue to recover from the pandemic, nonprofit managers navigate uncertain economic conditions related to pay rates, employee retention, benefits, and employment policies. The survey provides a wealth of information to help nonprofits make informed decisions about these key issues.

Published by Oakland-based Nonprofit Compensation Associates, the survey covers a vast geographic area, 48 Northern California counties, from Del Norte County in the far northwest to Inyo County in the far southeast. This past year, 647 nonprofits reporting on more than 35,000 jobs participated in the 2021 survey, making it the largest and most robust in the survey’s 43-year history. We expect another strong response for 2022.

To participate in the 2022 survey (and acquire the 2021 survey report, if you don’t already have it), visit www.nonprofitcomp.com, or email NCA at survey@nonprofitcomp.com.

Participation deadline:                       February 18, 2022
Report publication date:                   April 15, 2022
