The St. Catharines Arts Awards recognize and celebrate excellence in all areas of artistic creation. The Arts Awards seek to increase the visibility of St. Catharines' artists and cultural industries, honour cultural leaders and their achievements, and cultivate financial and volunteer support for the arts sector.
 
Nominations will be accepted for the following categories:
  • Arts in Education
  • Emerging Artist
  • Established Artist (artistic practice 10+yrs)
  • Making a Difference
  • Patron of the Arts
 
Nominations will close on Thurs. Apr. 1 at 4pm.
The Awards Show will be celebrated in Fall 2021.

  • WHEN: Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 5:30 to 6:30pm
  • WHERE: Zoom session. Details provided by email in advance.
  • WHAT: Join staff for a zoom session where they will share tips & tricks for completing a nomination and answer your questions. We suggest you read the guidelines and category descriptions in advance of the session (available online at www.stcatharines.ca/artsawards).
  • RSVP: email culture@stcatharines.ca and staff will email you a zoom link in advance of the meeting; please include "Arts Awards Info Session" in your email.
  • Those without access to zoom are encouraged to call staff and set up an appointment if you have questions about your nomination. Call 905 359 7348.

St. Catharines Cultural Investment Program | Culture Days Activity Program - Apply Now!
What is Culture Days?
  • Culture Days is a month-long national event (September 24 to October 24, 2021) to raise the awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement of Canadians in the arts and cultural life of their communities.
  • SCCIP Culture Days Activity Program funding is intended for artists, businesses or organizations who wish to run a Culture Days activity in St. Catharines.
  • Activities must respond to the mandate of Culture Days and create public participation in cultural experiences, with the aim of inspiring future involvement in the cultural life of the community.

Call to Artists (RFPQ),
Neil Peart Memorial
The City of St. Catharines is looking to commission an original, site-specific, permanent work of public art to recognize the significant musical contribution of Neil Peart, a former St. Catharines resident, a world renowned musician, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, a member of the Progressive Rock band Rush, and author. The artwork is to be located in Lakeside Park, Port Dalhousie.

Note: an artwork proposal is not requested at this time.
Requests for Pre-Qualifications (RFPQ’s) are only accepted online through the Bids and Tenders website: https://stcatharines.bidsandtenders.ca/Module/Tenders/en

Mandatory Masks By-Law
St. Catharines by-law requires owners and/or operators of enclosed public spaces, to require mask use by those entering their establishments, in addition to the provision of hand sanitizer at entrances. The Mandatory Masks By-law is currently in effect, enacted on Jul. 17, 2020.
Funding Resources
NEW | Healthy Communities Initiative
Facilitated by the Niagara Community Foundation
$1.8 million in funding available to transform public spaces in response to COVID-19
Deadline: March 9, 8pm

The Niagara Tourism Adaptation and Recovery Fund
Will provide financial assistance in the form of 80% grants to enable tourism-dependent, small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) and Arts and Culture Not-for-Profits (NFP) organizations, to equip themselves to meet Public Health guidelines and protocols. 

Utility Relief Program for Nonprofits
Nonprofits may be eligible for up to $1,500 in relief from their utility bills under the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program as of January 1. 

COVID-19 Regional Relief & Recovery Fund (RRRF) open to Nonprofits
Nonprofit social enterprises in southern Ontario with 1- 499 staff are now eligible for the RRRF, which provides interest-free operating loans (of which a portion is forgivable if paid in full by the end of 2022). Because eligibility was determined by the regional federal agency FedDevOntario, nonprofits had been inexplicably excluded from the first round.
