Today is World Mental Health Day.
And I am reminding the world that I am
just a person.

I hope you all don't mind my sometimes overly personal emails to you. After all, these go out to 10s of thousands of supporters and when I send them, I realize that it may be too much for some. If you're one of them, please kindly disregard this message if it's not your thing.

I started One Simple Wish in my home 14 years ago. Since then, it has simultaneously been one of the most heartbreaking and heartwarming parts of my everyday life. I have read stories that brought me to tears, to my knees and some that have left me unable to sleep for days. The pain that this world can bring is - at times -simply unbearable to think about and as a super empath,
I tend to feel it all.

I know I am not alone. I know from the emails you send me that many of you find joy in the granting wishes for the same reason I do; it's a way to ease some pain, give some needed love and do so in a way that is both incredibly intimate but also allows some necessary distance too.

On days like today, when I have spent hours reading through wishes and developing plans to launch new campaigns to address even more of the hurt, I am also careful to remind myself that I am just a person. I am not a superhero, a magician or a saint. Neither are you.

I hope that this vehicle I created has done for you what I intended. I hope that it has helped you connect, heal a little and realize the power of a simple kindness. Knowing you are here in this space with me - every day - really does mean the world. And on a day like today, when I'm in my feelings just a bit more than usual, I like to reach out and just let you know how much it has meant to me that you have welcomed this little site that I built into your heart.

So, thank you. I hope today you are giving yourself the love and appreciation that every single one of us deserves. And if you've got a little extra, I hope you'll consider sharing it too.

Thanks for being a person here in this space with me.
It truly is remarkable what we've done here.

With immeasurable gratitude,
Danielle (and The OSW Team)
There are currently 510 wishes totaling over $77,000 waiting to be granted on the website.
