Wow, did summer fly by, or what?! I can't believe we are publishing our Back to School newsletter already! All summer, we worked to collect school supplies and pack backpacks to distribute to Douglas County students through our Lend a Hand School Supply Drive. This year, we also collected supplies for new teachers to help them decorate their classrooms and stock up on basic supply needs for the year. We are so thankful to our partners who also helped collect supplies: CORE Electric Cooperative, Sky Ridge Medical Center, Castle Rock Adventist, Douglas County Libraries and Office Depot. We hope all of you had a great summer, and we can't wait to see all our students back and thriving soon!

Your support of our annual Building the Dream Gala really does make dreams come true! We hope you will join us Friday, September 29th, at the DCSD Legacy Campus, and help us raise funds for programs like our Opportunity Grants. Opportunity Grants encourage and develop great teachers by helping make their innovative, unique, and cutting-edge ideas a reality. The Foundation funds and fundraises around our Three Pillars of Community, Innovation & Leadership, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math). Backpack distribution for the Foundations' 2023 Lend A Hand School Supply Drive is in full swing over the coming week! This year, the Foundation is on track to distribute between 1,500 -2000 backpacks filled with school supplies to students throughout the district.

This program wouldn't be the success it is without the help and support of our amazing volunteers, and the generosity of our community partners and individuals like you!

Lend A Hand ensures that every student starts the 2023-2024 school year with the supplies they need to help them be successful in school.

THE PERSEVERANCE GOLF TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF THE 2023-24 SCHOOL YEAR

It was a beautiful day at the scenic Lone Tree Golf Club for the 2nd annual Perseverance Golf Tournament this past Monday! 130 DCSD Administrators and supporters enjoyed a full day of golf, prizes, lunch and a silent auction, raising over $13,000 for the Perseverance Scholarship for DCSD graduates. This event was also great way for DCSD staff to connect prior to the start of the 2023-24 school year. PLEASE WELCOME the Foundation's new Chapter and Events Coordinator, JANE DAVIS

Jane attended Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona, where she began her career in non-profit event management at the Fiesta Bowl. From there she moved on to Las Vegas where she worked for Las Vegas Events as Event Director, organizing events and for the National Finals Rodeo and Budweiser World Cup. Jane had the opportunity to return to Arizona and work for Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation and AT&T's Sports Marketing Department, where she met her husband, Scott.

Following her career, Jane and Scott moved to Colorado with their two young daughters. 

They enjoyed living in Castle Pines for several years before relocating out of state for Scott's career. After COVID, they decided to return to Colorado with one daughter at Colorado State University and the other a senior at Rock Canyon. Jane enjoys being active outdoors, attending concerts, and spending time with family and friends. She is happy to be back to work supporting the Foundation for Douglas County Schools.  

Fun Fact: Jane spent six weeks this spring hiking 500 miles across northern Spain on the Camino de Santiago.
