Happy Fall!

Let's celebrate with a member party at the Seal Cove Auto Museum. Meet old friends and new ones, visit with instructors, enjoy yummy refreshments, and explore the antique autos and motorcycles from the brass era.

This month we bring you another Food for Thought program you won't want to miss! Several of our island librarians will share their favorite banned books and discuss recent book ban attempts and trends in Maine. See below for more information.

Fall classes are wrapping up so don't forget to submit your online course evaluations. Email reminders will be sent in the next week or two.

See you soon.

A Thought-Provoking Evening

Anne Clunan kicked off The Dorothy and Jim Clunan Lecture Series on Cultural Understanding and World Affairs offering powerful and insightful thoughts on the new world order. The event at the Neighborhood House in Northeast Harbor attracted a crowd of nearly 150 people. Anne writes that she is "so heartened by what a vibrant organization ASC is and how much it reflects the hopes and spirit of both my parents. You've truly found the perfect way to honor them."

We look forward to continuing this new tradition next year.

Fall Bird Migration Walk

Fifteen ASC members joined Seth Benz, Director of Bird Ecology at Schoodic Institute, on a cool fall day for a bird migration walk. About 20 species were sighted including the cedar waxwings and semipalmated plover seen below. After the walk, members enjoyed a picnic lunch at the Seal Cove picnic area and some delicious-looking brownies!

Fall course evaluations

Most fall classes are wrapping up this week and next so don't forget to submit your online course evaluations. The Curriculum Committee reviews comments to help them evaluate class sizes and locations, and learn what topics you enjoy. All comments are shared anonymously with the committee and instructors.
