President's Message

Spring is in the air!

As we start to move forward over twelve months since the pandemic began, I’m excited to see the new beginnings. Staff members are moving back into their offices, we are scheduling face-to-face donor meetings and member organizations are even holding some fundraising events. What a year everyone has endured.

During meetings with my fellow development professionals, a common theme that has run throughout - we are exhausted. But you have not only survived, you've thrived during this pandemic year by putting your organizations first - sometime to your own detriment. Please remember to practice some self care as we fix our gaze on the light at the end of the tunnel. I am reminded of the flight attendants who advise us during pre-flight instructions to “adjust your own oxygen mask first before affixing it to the child.”

Remember the words of Anne Lamott: “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.”

Have an amazing spring and remember to register for the DFW Philanthropy In Action Conference. This will be a great way to recharge your fundraising motivation for the rest of the year.
