THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, November 1 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream
DON'T FORGET TO ROLL BACK YOUR CLOCKS ONE HOUR ON SATURDAY NIGHT!
Each year on the first Sunday in November we honor All Souls’ Day by remembering those who have died in a candle lighting ritual. This year our service will be online, but we will still be honoring those who have died with a special slide show.

If you have lost a loved one in the last year, please send a photograph and their name to allsouls@uucuc.org by 11:59 pm on Thursday, October 29. We will be calling on our ancestors (familial and spiritual) to give us strength for the time ahead. We will also be commissioning our four new Pastoral Care Associates: Jenny Hunt, Cloydia Larrimore, Alice Engelbretson, and Virginia Brubaker.

SUBMITTING JOYS AND SORROWS

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service. They will be read aloud.

Join our online Zoom Fellowship Hour at 11:30 a.m. after the service on Sunday. Come chat with UUCUC members and friends! All are welcome.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROSITY!
Your contributions and support allow us to continue to respond with love and resources to the needs in our congregation and the wider community. We couldn’t do it without your support and we are grateful to each of you.

If you have missed any of the previous live streamed services, you can view them at https://uucuc.org/livestream-at-uucuc/ (they are listed towards the bottom of the page). You can also view previous live streamed services on our YouTube channel.
UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICES
REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, November 8 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream

Now that Election Day 2020 is behind us, where do we go from here? No matter what has happened, our work for justice and inclusion continues – how do we stay focused and clear about what most matters, in these turbulent times?
REV. SALLY FRITSCHE
Sunday, November 15 at 10:15 a.m. via Livestream

When it comes to sex, many religions seek to suppress knowledge and understanding of our bodies, identities, and health. Thankfully, Unitarian Universalism is different! Our commitments to comprehensive sex education, LGBTQ representation, and reproductive justice, are longstanding and deeply rooted in our UU values. Join us for an affirmation and celebration of those values, as well as a historical framing for the ongoing effort to protect these basic freedoms and rights today.

Saturday, October 31

How often do we think of ourselves as a community within a community? Unitarian Universalist churches are both sanctuaries and beacons of hope in communities around the country. What is our role in creating healthy inclusive churches that live up to the promises of Unitarian Universalism? We invite you into a Youth and Adult Spiritual Development Workshop with Paula Cole Jones to explore these questions and more. The 4-hour class will be held the second time on Saturday, October 31 from 10 AM to 2:30 PM. Click here to watch a brief interview between Michele Grove and Paula Cole Jones that explains this exciting event.

UUCUC'S "BUDDY SYSTEM"
Staying connected while
UUCUC facilities are closed

During this time of social distancing, staying in touch and checking in with each other is going to be very important. We hope you will consider being part of our "Buddy System" so we can care for one another.

You can sign up here: https://uucuc.breezechms.com/form/2184f1. Buddies will check in with each other regularly by phone to provide connection, companionship, and connections to help if needed. This is a great way to help each other.
JOYS AND SORROWS were not part of last week's service. However, we did have one submission.

From Marsha Clinard: For the past 35 years Charlie has heard nothing from his left ear. And in the past years he has increasingly lost hearing in his right ear. Last Tuesday, he had surgery to put in a cochlear implant. In three weeks the exterior part will be available and the adventures will truly begin. He is excited and hopeful. We both are.

Please send your joys or sorrows to joysandsorrows@uucuc.org any time before the Joys and Sorrows portion of the service each Sunday. They will be read aloud.
GIVING AND GRATITUDE
UUCUC Social Action Offering. Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive offerings from our congregation. You may donate to the social action offering for the month in one of the following ways:

During the month of October, Sunday services’ social action offering will support Cunningham Township's Angel Donor Fund. This Angel Fund was launched in 2018 by Cunningham Township to provide life-saving support for township program participants who have one-time miscellaneous needs that fall outside existing programs. All donated funds go directly to secure food, clothing, housing, power and transportation. Read more
RECENT SHARED OFFERINGS

During the month of September 2020, CU Trauma and Resiliency Initiative was selected to be the shared offering. The UUCUC congregation contributed a total of $2,187.50 that month!
