The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has implemented a system called v-safe, which is a smartphone-based tool that uses text messaging and web surveys to check in with a person after they have received COVID-19 vaccination.
V-safe will also provide second-dose reminders (if needed) and live telephone follow-up by CDC if vaccinated individuals report a medically significant event during a v-safe check-in. V-safe asks questions to monitor the safety of COVID-19 vaccines. CDC has created an information sheet that contains background on the program and instructions for enrolling.
It is important that healthcare professionals give each patient a v-safe information sheet at the time of vaccination and encourage patients to enroll. For additional information and to print the v-safe information sheet, go to the V-safe After Vaccination Health Checker by the CDC by clicking below.
