For the past year, I’ve been a prayer warrior for Sean Feucht and his Let Us Worship Ministry. Sean transitioned from taking his worship and revival ministry to other countries to now ministering in cities of America. In the midst of last summer’s riots and violence, he went to the ravaged streets of places like Portland and “Chaz” zone in Seattle. He brought revival bravely and boldly right into the heart of the chaos. He didn’t stop there as he went on to Chicago, DC, New York, Minneapolis, and now fifty cities later Boise, Idaho.
I was so excited when I saw on Facebook that he would be so near to us and actually very close to my daughter and her family. I started networking the date, time, and location on social media and made several announcements in my church. It was going to be Sunday, July 26, at 6:00 PM at Idaho Expo. It was on my calendar and my daughter and I made plans to go and take her family.
Then on the Saturday before the revival, I started doubting whether I should attend. It was going to be hot. Really hot! 102! And in Boise, 6 PM to 8 PM can be the hottest time of day. It was smoky from the surrounding fires. They call it an inversion over Boise Treasure Valley.
Leaving the area where we live on a summer Sunday afternoon with all the campers and people enjoying a weekend of outdoor fun heading for home, could add an extra grueling hot hour to the normally one hour drive down to Boise. We also would probably get home very late.
My husband couldn’t go to the revival because he’s still recovering from knee replacement surgery, even though he said he would go down with me, stay at our daughter’s house, and read Mark Levin’s new book American Marxism, which had just arrived in the mail and I highly recommend.
As I prayed Sunday afternoon after church, where I had made yet another announcement about the revival, I realized what was actually happening. Satan was filling my mind with doubts and reasons to miss a time of worship and revival celebrating Jesus with a crowd of fellow believers and family! A glimpse of heaven so near to me.
Then I knew no obstacle put before me would stop me from going. As I’m sure you’re already imagining many of Satan’s ploys never materialized. There were “flaggers” at the bottleneck intersection leaving our community and we sailed right through with a minimal wait!
It was hot, but we took chairs, lots of water, and found a spot in the shade of a tree. Hubby did drive down with me and enjoyed a quiet time reading Levin’s book.
At the Let Us Worship revival, the Spirit of the Lord filled the air as we watched so many come forward during the altar call to be prayed over and even throw on stage the symbols of their hurts and hang-ups. Things like knives, pills, drugs, cigarettes. We prayed revival and renewal over Idaho and felt a renewing in our own spirits.
The next day, Monday morning, Satanists planned a march on the Capitol. But Sean’s ministry team, along with tons of local worshippers, were also there praying and worshipping over the Capitol and the city. In Sean’s own words, “Making the Satanist flee without completing their scheduled curses over the city!”
Satan attacking me was small potatoes (excuse the Idaho pun); he was going for the whole city of Boise. But Satan has to flee when faced with worship in the name of Jesus!! I wish I had been there to see it. It’s a reminder that Satan has his minions in every city, but greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world!
I’m so glad that I learned years ago how to pray and discern when Satan is trying to stop me from doing something for the Lord or that God wants me to do. Maybe some of these tips will help you too!
1. Is the thought something God would put into my mind?
2. What would be the detriment to my spiritual life or God’s kingdom if I acted on negative discouraging thoughts?
3. Why would or wouldn’t God want me to do something?
4. What solutions does God have for overcoming the possible obstacles?
5. How much do I trust God to make a way where there seems to be no way?!
Here’s a prayer I pray every morning that you might want to pray or modify.
In your Name, Lord Jesus, I claim protection against any lies, thoughts and/or emotions inserted in me by Satan or his followers. I seal off any opportunity for them to influence or affect any part of me. I declare myself . . . spirit, mind, emotions, body, will . . . totally open to your voice and totally available to do your will alone. Amen
God wants us to have confidence that he knows everything in advance, and he has given us the inner strength and courage to withstand the most difficult and challenging times if we rely on him even when it seems impossible or unbearable. . . . With Jesus in our hearts and minds, we can courageously face whatever this world hands us—not with timidity, or trepidation, but with faith in Jesus Christ alone. We can do it because God is always there to remind us: We’re braver than we know.
So get your brave on, cast Satan aside, and let Jesus guide your heart, mind, and actions.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
