Middle and High School Students
Enjoy Off-Campus Spiritual Retreat
| |
Prince middle and high school students recently took a break from the rigors of academics and co-curricular activities to focus on their relationships with one another and with the Lord.
High school students and faculty enjoyed the beautiful setting of Ocoee Ridge Camp in Old Fort, Tennessee. The retreat included corporate worship led by the Prince Praise Band. Middle school students and faculty traveled to the Athens Y Camp in Tallulah Falls, Georgia and enjoyed worship led by Matthew Smock. Pastor Jace Thomas led the teaching for both groups and taught on three aspects of a "real" relationship with God - personal, honest, and life-changing.
Faculty members led small-group discussions where students shared thoughts regarding the teaching, encouraged one another, and prayed together. Students also enjoyed a variety of recreational activities and time to relax and have fun.

The Prince Avenue Christian School Writing Team completed its spring season by publishing the 2023 Writing Team anthology titled Art Painted in Words. The team was comprised of 16 students in 4th-8th grades who met twice a week from January through March to compose short stories for evaluation in the Wolverine Writer Cup. This year’s team was unique in that among its participants, four middle school students acted as junior writing coaches to assist younger authors by offering feedback and encouragement for their short stories.
The Prince Writing Team was coached by Prince Media Specialist Danny Delgado and high school English teacher Lizzie Hudlow. Prince alumna Mez Blume (Class of 2006) returned once again as the master class workshop instructor for the team.

Prince Graduate, Rett Sams,
Marches with Prestigious Red Coat Band
| |
When Prince families are watching The Red Coat Marching Band this fall, they might notice a familiar face in the trombone section.
Prince graduate Rett Sams (’23) is one of only two Prince graduates who has had the honor of joining the distinguished marching band at the University of Georgia.
While at Prince, Rett spent eight years in Prince Bands including Pep Band, Concert Band, and Jazz Band. He was Band Captain his senior year and was the recipient of the John Philip Sousa and Patrick S. Gilmore Awards. Rett explains that these experiences prepared him musically to audition for The Redcoat Band. However, Rett had never marched in a marching band. “Mr. Dailey taught me the basics of marching during some of my study halls, and Mr. Marlow (a former Redcoat himself) always talked with me about what a great experience it was for him.”
