As we approach the 12-month mark of this prolonged crisis, we are assisting in sharing United Way of Miami-Dade’s Pandemic Impact Survey, open until March 26, 2021, to measure how Miami-Dade households have been affected by the pandemic and assess the financial and household burdens it has caused on our community’s families. The survey aims to collect responses from a wide range of households, income levels, as well as small business owners. Responses will provide critical insight about local challenges and identify ways to plan, coordinate and adapt services to support those in need, as well as assist in planning for future investments. Completing this survey should take about 10 minutes and is available in English, Spanish and soon Haitian Creole – select your language using the dropdown box at the top of the page. A full report will be published summer 2021.

United Way of Miami-Dade is seeking to address access and opportunity barriers for Black, Indigenous, and Youth of Color (BIYOC) through racial equity programming. The grant recipient will utilize a minimum of two approaches that address racial inequities such as leadership development, community organizing, civic engagement and advocacy. Outcomes may include increased civic engagement, self-empowerment, building strong relationships, increased school engagement, conflict resolution, critical thinking and decision-making skills and activities that promote the reduction of racial inequities. Funding will be for a two-year period and will commence July 1, 2021. Services must begin by August 2021 and continue through June 30, 2023.

Funding will be $25,000 each year for a total award of $50,000. Completed applications should also be sent to velezm@unitedwaymiami.org . Miami-Dade County is taking applications for the District 8 Mom & Pop Small Business Grants. Eligible small businesses in District 8 can receive up to $5,000 in assistance. Applications can be directly downloaded from www.miamidade.gov/district08. Miami-Dade County is taking applications for its Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) to assist our tenants and landlords who are experiencing hardship. Residents of Miami-Dade may be eligible for up to 12 months of assistance, if they meet certain income qualifications and are experiencing financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Triple P Parenting Program is for parents with children who have mild to moderate behavioral issues and are under the age of 12 years old. The Program consists of 10 free, 1 hour, parenting sessions with a Triple P Parent Educator from FOF. Parents will learn and practice the skills necessary to tackle behavioral challenges with various strategies implemented from the evidence based Triple P curriculum. We provide the sessions in English or Spanish, in home or virtual.

Gutierrez Consulting Partnerships is partnering with South Florida Philanthropic Consulting Services to help nonprofits plan for the future in this “new normal.” They meet with key stakeholders to provide a FREE one-hour diagnostic evaluation of their organization in light of the challenges they may be facing. Florida KidCare is the umbrella brand for the four government-sponsored health insurance programs – Medicaid, MediKids, Florida Healthy Kids and the Children’s Medical Services (CMS) Health Plan – that together provide a seamless continuum of coverage for Florida children from birth through the end of age 18. The Institute for Child and Family Health (ICFH) provides mental health services including Individual/family therapy and psychiatry for children and adolescents in Miami-Dade County. The institute accepts most Medicaid HMO’s and has funding for children of low-income families who do not have insurance. ICFH also provides individual/family therapy and psychiatry services for adults who have Medicaid.
