Hongwei Shang has been living the quintessential American dream in our very own Palmetto Bay community for over 10 years now. Mrs. Shang was born in Beijing, China and in the year 2000, moved to the United States with her husband. In 2003, she earned her Master’s Degree in English and American Literature from the University of South Florida and continued her education with a J.D. Degree from Stetson University College of Law in 2006. She worked several jobs while working towards her dream of having her own practice. In 2008, that dream became a reality and she opened her own law practice focusing on civil and commercial litigation, family, criminal, immigration and corporate law. She is a strong believer in giving back to her community and always remembering where you come from. She currently serves as legal counsel for many nonprofit Chinese organizations, including the Chinese Association of Science, Education and Culture of South Florida (CASEC), Hubei Association of Florida, Inc., Northeastern Chinese Association of Florida, Inc. and the Federation of Florida Chinese Associations, Inc. Mrs. Shang is always ready to do her part to make this a better world. At the beginning of the COVID-19 Global Pandemic, when the United States had a huge shortage for masks and PPE, she immediately began fundraising efforts in her community and organizations. With all the money they raised, she used her connections with the Chinese organizations and purchased thousands of dollars in PPE and donated it all to local senior homes, hospitals and first responders. Her desire and commitment to serve the Chinese and American communities doesn’t stop there, she also serves as an interpreter and Sunday School Teacher at her church, Chinese Baptist Church of Miami. Additionally, she and her husband are raising their two children in Palmetto Bay. Her son is a senior at Westminster Christian School and has been accepted to John Hopkins University Class of 2025 to pursue a career in medicine, and her daughter is a third grader at Coral Reef Elementary School and wants to be a teacher or a lawyer like her mommy.
We salute you and thank you for setting the bar high! You are an inspiration to us all. Thank you for making our Palmetto Bay a better place!
