Update from the Director
Greetings Madrone Trail Community,
I hope everyone had a great Turkey Day!
As the days get colder, please remember to send your child to school wearing appropriate clothing. Games class and recess is outside, rain or shine. We still have many children coming to school in shorts or without warm coats.
We recently had two new employees join our faculty. Please scroll down to check out the bio of our new Social Emotional Learning Advocate. We are very happy to have Shelby Dias join us at Madrone Trail. Our new Office Manager, Tess Orr, is getting settled in as well. Look out for her bio next week. Be sure to say hello the next time you are in the office.
We are currently looking for new teacher aides. You can find the complete job descriptions on our website or send me an email if you have any questions or know of a good candidate.
Please talk to your child about respecting others by leaving the bathroom in good condition. We are aware of a TikTok trend encouraging students to vandalize their school’s bathroom and boy are they going for it. We have heard that Ashland High School now keeps a security guard outside their girl’s bathroom and unlocks it to allow one student inside at a time. We do not have these resources. The middle school girl's bathroom has been the worst hit lately, but all the student bathrooms have had some level of vandalism or excessive mess made in them this school year. To be honest, after having the middle school girl's bathroom cleaned 3 times in one day, removing used personal products that were smeared all over the walls, I was resolved to just get them a port-a-potty that could be hosed out each day. I don’t want to do this, but I also don’t want students using a bathroom that is unsanitary. Our cleaning service operates at night, so when the bathroom is vandalized during the school day, it makes it difficult to get it clean again for same day usage. Also, we buy these products and stock them for our students. Seeing them strewn about and intentionally destroyed is regrettable. Please talk to your student. If they have any idea who it is, we would really appreciate it.
Sincerely,
John Bissey
Director

Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended the conferences last week. If you did not get a chance to meet with your child's teacher, and would like to, it's not too late! Please contact your child's class teacher to arrange a time either in person or online to meet.
