RCAHD Updated Testing Schedule
Last week, RCAHD delivered a total of over 1,000 PCR tests in Salem, Roanoke, and Fincastle. We are grateful for the staff, volunteers and community partners who helped us quickly scale up testing opportunities during this time of extreme demand. We recognize that these events have not been able to fully meet the local need for testing.

We continue to plan January testing events and will work with site hosts and emergency management partners to monitor any effects from the weather and other factors.

Testing Opportunities This Week:

RCAHD will hold 2 FREE COVID Testing events this week.
Testing will now be by appointment only to minimize wait times.
No walk-ins will be accepted:

NEW! Valley View Testing Center, 9am-5:30pm

Fincastle Baptist Church, 3-5:00pm

Our ability to provide community testing events is now challenged by weather developments, as well as the availability of staff (both health department and vendor), supply chain constraints and laboratory testing capacity. Stay tuned to our website and social media channel (RoanokeCityAlleghanyHealthDistricts) for updates.

RCAHD cases continue to reach record-level highs. Hospitalizations remain high, though they are not dramatically different than last week. Vaccinations for everyone ages 5+ are strongly advised, as well as masking when entering indoor spaces, regardless of vaccination status.

NEW! Valley View Testing Center
A new COVID Testing Center is being opened at Valley View Mall to provide FREE PCR testing to help meet the increased demand.

The Valley View Testing Center will operate by appointment only, Mon-Thu, 9am-5:30pm. Appointments will typically be released about 24 hours ahead of each day's testing event.
