HappyOrNot Smiley Feedback
Help us collect meaningful data that will track effective change
When you walk through the main doors, you'll notice two new stands in the main lobby area. These user-friendly, interactive stands will help us learn more about how our services help maintain sobriety. Ultimately, we want to know how we can better help individuals on the road to recovery. To participate, all you have to do is hit the smiley face that best represents your answer. That's it! Easy-peasy! The answers are all anonymous, so feel free to provide your honest feedback.
Support us through AmazonSmile
Support Fit To Recover with your Amazon purchases!

The AmazonSmile program allows you to shop on Amazon all while helping support Fit To Recover while you shop! All you need to do is go to smile.amazon.com instead of the normal Amazon site, choose “Fit To Recover” as your charitable organization, and start shopping! 0.5% of the price of eligible items will be donated to FTR.

Once you have chosen your charity, Amazon will remember this for future visits; you do not need to select your charity each time you shop. However, you DO need to begin your shopping session by entering Amazon through smile.amazon.com. That’s it!
Wellness Challenge Complete
We wanted to Congratulate all 45 of our Wellness Challenge participants for completing the 6-week challenge. Together you completed 27 workouts, 12 active rest days and 3 nutrition classes. We hope this challenge helped motivate you towards the goals you want to accomplish in 2021. And a special Congratulations to Matt Martin and Andy Torgersen for winning the $200 cash prize and $100 Smith's grocery gift card.
Member Spotlight
This month we would like to give a big shout out to Neil Winget. Neil is a consistent member of FTR and shows up everyday with a smile on his face. He is involved with our service projects and also participates in our weekly Meal Preps. He just completed the Wellness Challenge and is an active member of our Community Advisory Board (CAB). We appreciate you Neil and are grateful you are a part of our community.

Meet our New Trainer, Emily!

Emily is our newest FTR Fitness Trainer. She was certified through our FTR Internship program and we are so thrilled to have her on board. Come support and connect in her 4:30 pm Friday Night FTR Fitness Class.

We will be offering our FTR Internship Program to interested FTR members in the next months. Information forthcoming.
NUTRITION
Join us for Nutrition Education!

FTR will be holding a monthly nutrition class on the last Monday of the month at 5:30pm in the FTR kitchen. This one hour class is a wonderful opportunity for members to learn more about various health-related topics, cooking skills and meal planning in a small group setting with lead dietitian, Corinna. Classes will be capped at 10 people. Be sure to sign up on the MindBody app or with Kate at the front desk.
CREATIVE EXPRESSION
Have you listened to the
'Recovery Radar' Podcast?!

If you missed our big announcement last month, our Creative Arts Pillar Lead, Tony, and Creative Arts Music Volunteer, Ben (aka ThinkBenjamin) started the FTR Podcast. It's called Recovery Radar and it features people in recovery from the FTR community. The first episode was released February 1st. The second episode was released February 11th. Download, Listen and Subscribe on Apple Podcasts.

Deeply Rooted IV

Our Music Group has been hard at work, preparing for the up-coming virtual Deeply Rooted IV Concert! Please join us Friday March 5, 2021 at 7:30 pm via Zoom. Also, we please ask that you turn on your camera so that our performers can see you. It is more interactive and fun for our performers to see their audience.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Last month, FTR partnered with the Jordan River Commission to plant over 20 trees along the Jordan River Trail. Thirty seven amazing individuals showed up on a cold, rainy Saturday to help plant trees and restore the ecological integrity of the Jordan River Trail. Thanks to all of you, including those from Journey Treatment Centers, for your help with this service event.

We have two upcoming Service projects!

  • Saturday March 6 at 11:00 am: We had such a fun time planting trees with the Jordan River Commission, that we've volunteered to help them again. But this time, we are going to plant over 100 trees! Meet at the gym at 11:00 am, Saturday March 6 and we will carpool to the trail - access it from Rockhill Point Cove (899 Rockhill Point Cove, Taylorsville UT; see map below).
  • What to wear: Masks, long work pants, work boots or closed-toed shoes, long-sleeved shirt, and jacket (depending on the weather).
  • If you're interested in participating, please contact Maara at (385) 267-2050.

  • Ongoing: We will be partnering with Street Dawg Crew of Utah next month to deliver care packages for homeless animals. We are looking for donations that include dog and cat food, pet food bowels, pet leashes and collars, blankets for pets, warm jackets/sweaters for pets, bottled water, and dog and cat treats. Please stay tuned for more information about a specific date and time. Until then, please drop off your donations in the gym lobby.
  • Street Dawg Crew of Utah's mission is to serve the pets of the homeless and other low-income and vulnerable populations. For more information about Street Dawg Crew of Utah, please visit their website.
  • If you're interested in participating, please contact Maara at (385) 267-2050.
