Alberta is Officially Open for Summer
The majority of COVID-19 restrictions are now lifted as Alberta entered Stage 3 on July 1st. Mandatory isolation and quarantine rules remain in place, and masking is still required in hospitals, continuing care, mass transit, ride shares, and taxis. Click here for Covid-19 public health actions.

Critical Worker Benefit
The Government of Alberta recently announced new job categories who are now eligible for the payment including: truck drivers, farm workers, security guards, cleaners, funeral workers, employees at quick service and dine in restaurants and taxi drivers who can demonstrate they worked at least 300 hours during the eligibility period. Private sector employers must register on behalf of employees by July 23. More information.

New Jobs Now Grant
The Government of Alberta launched the Alberta Jobs Now program. Businesses can now apply to access up to $25,000 over 52 weeks to hire and/or train new employees. Applications are available now through December 31, 2021. More information.
 

The Canada-Alberta Job Grant helps to cover training expenses for existing employees and new hires. If you are hiring and training an unemployed Albertan, up to 100% of training costs could be covered, up to $15,000 per trainee.


More Provincial Support for the Live Events Sector
One-time grant funding through the Stabilize Program’s Adapt and Innovate stream will empower arts and culture non-profits to rebuild, reopen and offer live experiences. Qualifying organizations will be eligible for a grant of up to $75,000. The deadline to apply is July 29.

Rapid Test Kits Available Through Chamber
In partnership with the Alberta Chambers and the provincial government, the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce is offering complimentary COVID-19 rapid tests to eligible businesses. By testing employees, businesses can stop outbreaks before they happen while keeping both customers and staff safe.

There is no cost to these tests and any business or non-profit can request tests.

Once your application is approved, the Airdrie Chamber will provide you with further instructions on how and when to pick-up your kits.
