YOUNG ARTIST SELECTED FOR LIBRARY CARD DESIGN
Carpinteria High School junior Iltze Alvarado’s colorful design has been selected for the new Carpinteria Library card. When the library completes its transition to a City of Carpinteria facility next summer, Iltze’s artwork will be on the new card that all patrons receive.

Art contest organizers Friends of the Carpinteria Library and the Carpinteria Arts Center thank all of the talented young artists who submitted their designs for the contest. Ten semifinalist designs were selected and posted in the Arts Center front windows in October for local residents to vote their choice for best design.

These ten were created by Iltze Alvarado, Evelyn Calkins, Valerie Carillo, Crystal Echeverria, Travis Holmstrom, James Keyser, Julie Maya, Anna Petersen, Whitney Welch and Lacey Zimmerman.

CHARLES TURNS 97!
What a special day! GranVida Senior Living and Memory Care made their regular new exhibit tour for "Gift It!" that opened on Friday, and we had a full house of art admirers. Among those was Charles Lo Bue, the namesake of the main gallery.

Did you know that Charles just turned 97 on November 15th? We celebrated his birthday with friends and staff.

It is truly an honor to have Charles as our friend and supporter at the Arts Center. Happy 97th Birthday, Charles!
