Meeting Needs With Dignity


After seven years of giving away food to the community (a total of 275 tons), Pastor Ed Doerner of Messiah, Midland shared that the congregation decided to interview all the people who received the food. One woman said she hated the food giveaway because “You dictate what we eat; a lot of it is expired, and some of it isn’t even healthy.” The interview was a reality check for Doerner. He then asked what they wanted, and the woman said, “We want a store we can afford.”

OCTOBER IS CHURCH WORKER APPRECIATION MONTH

October has typically been clergy appreciation month and this year, we are including the many other church workers who are also a true blessing to those they serve. Please take time out to thank pastors, teachers, church musicians, deaconesses, family life educators, directors of Christian education, youth ministers, and other church workers who serve in your congregation. For a few ideas to show your support, the LCMS has posted resources here.

TAKE HEART! RESPITE RETREAT

October 28-30 | Dayton, Ohio

All teachers currently teaching in Lutheran schools as well as all commissioned workers are invited to attend! Plan now to step away for a few days of enrichment, learning, worship, conversation, and vital application of God's Word to class and parish. CUAA PIPE ORGAN REDEDICATION FESTIVAL
