US BANK FOUNDATION AND EASTERN IOWA REGIONAL HOUSING CORPORATION HELP LOWDEN HOMEOWNER REPAIR DERECHO DAMAGED HOME
Earlier this year, Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity was approached by a man who was experiencing more than his share of bad luck. Jim, of Lowden, IA, had been in a car accident that left him unable to work. In addition, medical concerns had him in and out of the hospital through the winter, and his home’s roof sustained catastrophic damage in last summer’s derecho. When the plaster cracked and began to fall in the dining room, he knew he needed help. Thanks to the Eastern Iowa Regional Housing Corporation and the US Bank Foundation and US Bank Tipton branch, IVHFH was able to replace Jim’s roof, install some much-needed grab bars throughout the home, and arrange for weatherization improvements to the rest of his home. These repairs will help him stay in his home and ensure his continued access to decent, safe housing.
JANE HAGEDORN WOMEN BUILD COMMITTEE
CONTINUES FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
This is an exciting year for Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build. We are honoring Jane Hagedorn, a volunteer who has gone above and beyond for our organization and who has been part of Women Build from the beginning. Jane took on the immense responsibility of Project Manager of IVHFH’s very first Women Build in 2004. She took on this volunteer role while continuing to operate her plumbing business full-time. Jane has played an essential role in each and every Women Build project; from serving on the Women Build steering committee each year to providing plumbing labor with Bea Day Plumbers on every Women Build. In short, we simply would not be where we are today celebrating 29 years of building without Jane Hagedorn.

This year, the Jane Hagedorn Women Build committee is raising $50,000 to build a new Habitat home and an additional $5,000 to support a Helping Hands home repair. With the cost of construction materials and supplies at an all-time high, we need your support more than ever. The success of these projects ensure Women Build can support more families for years to come.
