John's Usual Excuses & Apologies-

It's finally March! What about that weather this past weekend?! Nice! I hope that everyone found a little time to enjoy the sunshine, warmer weather, and fresh (almost spring) air. Brace yourselves though, I can almost guarantee you that there will be at least one more significant winter storm before we're done with this month. CLI intends to get people moving about out-of-doors as much as possible as the weather begins to improve.
Otherwise, not too much out of the ordinary on-deck for this week. We'll try to do better about taking pictures for next week's newsletter. Don't forget that CLI is willing to include your pictures and/or stories too. If you have something that you'd like us to share, send them to me by email to john@CLIsupports.com or by text to 419-706-5137.

For those of you who pay attention the weekly themes, Sunday 2/28/21 was National Science Day. Obviously March is a big month for CLI because it is both DD Awareness month & also women's history month-- so March newsletter quotes will celebrate those two movements & icons.
John
March has been recognized as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month since 1987 when President Ronald Reagan issued a public proclamation urging Americans to provide individuals with developmental disabilities “the encouragement and opportunities they need to lead productive lives and to achieve their full potential.”

Women’s History Month had its origins as a national celebration in 1981 when Congress passed Pub. L. 97-28 which authorized and requested the President to proclaim the week beginning March 7, 1982 as “Women’s History Week.” Throughout the next five years, Congress continued to pass joint resolutions designating a week in March as “Women’s History Week.” In 1987 after being petitioned by the National Women’s History Project, Congress passed Pub. L. 100-9 which designated the month of March 1987 as “Women’s History Month.” Between 1988 and 1994, Congress passed additional resolutions requesting and authorizing the President to proclaim March of each year as Women’s History Month. Since 1995, presidents have issued a series of annual proclamations designating the month of March as “Women’s History Month.” These proclamations celebrate the contributions women have made to the United States and recognize the specific achievements women have made over the course of American history in a variety of fields.
There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

The Ohio Association of County Boards of DD is sponsoring a commUNITY film fest. The deadline for submissions is March 12. The link above will take you to their home page where you can find full contest details. Edited videos need to be between 2-5 minutes long. CLI is looking to support CLI clients who want to submit a video. If you have someone at home who will help you edit your video, we'll even make it worth your crew's while by giving you a $75 Target gift card that you can use to compensate them for their help.

Boy does it feel good to finally have some warm weather again.
Speaking of feeling good…how exciting is it that McGuan Park in Norwalk will be an inclusive park. I can’t wait to see ALL people being able to enjoy it. In an effort to help, Firelands Local is going to do the following. We will be donating any proceeds from our monthly drop off to the park project for the next three months. This Wed will be our first opportunity to collect money for this great project.
Wed. 3/3 will be our monthly drop off for shredding from 9-2. We would love to see a large crowd and be able to help the park.
