Animal Adoptions

The Township of Brock Dench Animal Shelter is experiencing record numbers of abandoned, stray, orphaned and unclaimed dogs, cats and kittens and is full to capacity. There are very few requests for adoptions. How can you help the shelter?

šŸ˜øAdopt a new family member! Please see our animals available for adoption on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/Brockanimalshelter or call the shelter at

704-432-2884 or email animalshelter@brock.ca to set up a date and time to meet some of the fantastic pets looking for their forever homes!

šŸ¶Consider a donation to the shelter! The shelter always needs wet and dry dog, cat and kitten food, treats, toys, blankets, cat litter, and cleaning supplies.

šŸ˜øConsider applying to become a Foster Parent. Foster parents are essential to all animal shelters and rescues and provide a safe, quiet, peaceful environment. Foster opportunities are available for both dogs, cats and kittens and include bottle feeding, socialization and an environment to recover from illness or medical conditions and treatment.

šŸ¶Donate to the Brock Township Animal Shelter Sick and Injured Fund. 100% of donations from the fund are used for medical treatment and for animal enrichment. A charitable donation receipt is provided with contributions over $25. https://www.townshipofbrock.ca/Animals/

Curbside Giveaway Day: September 16

Are you ready to declutter and give new life to household items? Don't miss out on Curbside Giveaway Day on September 16!

Curbside Giveaway Day is a pilot project event organized in co-operation with the local municipalities, where residents exchange unwanted household items for pre-loved items theyā€™ve been wantingā€“all for free. Bring your gently used items to your curb, from clothing to household goods, and find new treasures while connecting with neighbours. At the end of Giveaway Day, residents will return unclaimed items to their home.

This initiative supports a circular economy where nothing is wasted, recovering as much value as possible from resources by reusing, repairing, refurbishing, remanufacturing, or repurposing products and materials before they are recycled or thrown out.

ļ»æ

The City of Oshawa will not be participating in the Curbside Giveaway Day and encourages community members to explore reuse opportunities by visiting oshawa.ca/WasteReduction.

For more details about the event, visit durham.ca/CurbsideGiveaway.

Drop off items for reuse, recycling and safe disposal during Environment Days

Residents are invited to donate items for reuse, recycling and safe disposal at our upcoming Environment Days from 8 a.m. to noon on September 9 at Chestnut Hill Developments Recreation Complex (parking lot) in Pickering; September 16 at Uxbridge Seniors Centre (parking lot) in Uxbridge; and September 23 at Clarington Operations Depot 42 in Bowmanville.

Durham Regionā€™s Environment Days support a circular economy, a model which retains and recovers as much value as possible from resources by reusing, repairing, refurbishing, remanufacturing, or repurposing products and materials before they are recycled or thrown out.

For more information, including tips for preparing to attend a collection event, please visit durham.ca/WasteEvents or download the Durham Region Waste App
