Public Works Snow Removal Procedures
|
|
Snowy days are just around the corner and the Public Works Department is prepared for what winter weather can bring.
Town of Bennett Public Works provides snow response services, utilizing a fleet of two large plows and seven residential plows. Large plows are used around main roads, senior assisted living facilities, water treatment facilities, schools and emergency response facilities. The residential plows are used on residential streets. Bennett’s main streets are the highest priority, as they carry most of the Town’s traffic as well as emergency vehicles and resident transportation.
Please watch the video below for some helpful snow removal reminders.

The goal of the Holiday Help program is to provide Bennett families in need with necessities like winter clothing as well as gifts for the holiday season.
This year, the Town will be incorporating “Senior Wishes” into the program and will collect socks, slippers, blankets and other necessities for seniors in the community.
In 2021, Holiday Help started with a toy and gift drive that has been extended to December 4. Residents are asked to bring new and unwrapped toys and gifts to Town Hall or Breakfast with Santa. Those who donate on or before December 1 will be entered into a raffle to win an iPad. The winner will be announced at Breakfast with Santa on December 4, 2021.

Master Transportation Plan
|
|
The Town of Bennett has initiated its first ever Master Transportation Plan (MTP) to establish a long-range vision for the Town’s transportation system over the next 20+ years. The MTP seeks to better understand and address current and future transportation needs for the Bennett community. It establishes an overall framework, sets community goals and identifies a range of investment opportunities to move people in the most efficient and safest manner possible today and for years to come.
We Want to Hear From You!
You’re invited to join us for a public meeting on January 19, 2022, at Town of Bennett Town Hall, 207 Muegge Way, Bennett, CO 80102 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Can’t make the meeting? Please share your ideas for the Town of Bennett’s future transportation system by visiting the project website.
Interactive Map
In addition to regular updates on the project website (see link to the right), the project team has developed an interactive map to obtain feedback about specific locations within the community. This feedback will help us identify transportation challenges and opportunities, and establish priorities and future investments of the transportation network.

Community Services Winter Reminders
|
|
The Bennett Community Services team would like to ensure that your holidays are filled with joy, so here are some winter tips to help keep you and yours safe this holiday season.
Snow and Ice Removal:
- Many falls occur when sidewalks, driveways and walkways are covered in snow and ice. Section 11-1-20 of the Bennett Municipal Code requires residents to ensure their portion of the sidewalk is cleared of snow, ice and debris. We recommend that if you are plowing snow, direct it to your yard to utilize the moisture when it melts.
Water and Sprinkler Lines:
- Properly winterizing your sprinkler system ensures it will not get damaged during freezing temperatures.
- Mobile home plumbing is extremely vulnerable to winter temperatures and without proper insulation the pipes could freeze, crack and potentially burst. This could cause extensive damage and expensive repairs.
- You can install foam board insulation and foam wrap around pipes to help keep them safe.
- If you have heat tape installed, always check for frays or faulty lines.
Pets:
- After your pet comes in from the outside, wipe them down to dry them off. You’ll appreciate having less of a mess and they’ll appreciate being warm.
- While drying your pet, check the pads of each paw ensuring there is no cracking or bleeding due to element exposure. Also, wipe the pads off well because they may have picked up ice melt, salt or other potentially dangerous material on their travels.
- The warmth of your recently run car may attract outdoor cats who like to sleep under the hood. If unchecked, an engine may injure or kill the unsuspecting cat. Try tapping the hood or front quarter panel of your vehicle prior to starting.
- If you have animals that are kept outside, ensure they have adequate cover, food, water and warmth to help protect them during the cold season.
We hope these suggestions are helpful and would like to wish you and your family a happy holiday season.
