COVID-19 Vaccine and Testing Updates
Across the State, vaccine appointments are now open for individuals in Phase 1a and 1b. Those who live or work in Lake County can register for vaccine availability notifications on the Allvax website. To help older residents who need assistance with scheduling appointments, the State has launched a Vaccine Appointment Call Center open from 6 a.m. to midnight seven days a week at 833-621-1284. For additional vaccine information, visit the IDPH website. The CDC has launched a new vaccine finder web page where you can find sites close to home by entering your zip code. A resource for finding additional vaccine locations across Illinois can be found here.

The Lake County Health Department is announcing that free mobile COVID-19 testing sites will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Highland Park on Friday, March 19, in Mundelein on Sunday, March 21, and in Winthrop Harbor on Monday, March 22, 2021. Click here for more information.
Village Prepares Fiscal Budgets for Public Comments
The Fiscal Year 2021-22 Operating and Capital Budgets were presented at the Village Board meeting on March 9, 2021. A hearing for public input is scheduled for Tuesday, March 23, 2021 via Zoom; details on how to participate and submit comments are available at this link. The budget will be prepared for consideration at the April 13, 2021 Village Board meeting.
Philip Estates Subdivision Proposal Update
The Village Board directed the next steps for approval of the Philip Estates preliminary planned unit development (PUD), formerly known as Canterbury Park. The PUD is located on 34 acres of vacant, undeveloped property on East Cuba Road south of Glenstone and east of Deerwood Estates. The development area would consist of 19 single-family lots with public sewer and a private water main system. The planned development has been designed to preserve environmentally sensitive spaces and would work to maintain and enhance them. A pathway system would link together the scenic corridor and conservancy easements within the development, and would provide for future opportunities to connect with nearby Lake County properties. More information is available here.
CSCC Offers Resources to Community HOAs
Many subdivisions in Long Grove contain conservancy areas, which are intended to remain in their natural, undisturbed state. Residents should be aware of the restrictions associated with conservancy areas, if any are located on their property. The Conservancy and Scenic Corridor Committee (CSCC) helps homeowners’ associations (HOAs) by providing information on how to remove invasive plants from conservancy areas and other spaces within HOAs. Speakers from the CSCC can share information at HOA meetings on the removal of invasive growth and about replanting with native vegetation that conforms to Village regulations. The CSCC also gives guidance on controlled burning and how to obtain burn permits. Click here for more information and to view the Village’s conservancy resources.
N. Krueger Road Project on Track
Six bids for the N. Krueger Road project were received on March 6, 2021, with the lowest bid from Peter Baker & Son Co. in the amount of $1.045 million. The repaving and widening of portions of the road between Route 22 and Gilmer Road are estimated to cost the Village $375,000; partial funding will be provided through State and federal programs, with construction anticipated to start in late May or early June. A public pre-construction meeting will be scheduled this spring -- information on the meeting date, as well as how to participate, will be provided in future communications.

Waste Management Offers Electronics Recycling
Waste Management (WM) offers monthly electronics recycling to Long Grove residents on the first Monday of every month. To arrange for pick up, residents can call 866-570-4702 at least two business days prior to the first Monday of the month and request to be put on the schedule for electronics recycling pick up. Please note: this pick up is not on your regular waste pick-up day. The evening before the scheduled pick up, electronics should be placed street-side.

Residents may discard as many as ten electronics items; however, only one item can be a TV or computer monitor. Microwave ovens cannot be recycled and should be thrown out with the trash. WM asks that smaller items be placed in a box for easier disposal. For more information and a list of accepted e-recycling items, click here.

HDLGBA Egg Hunt on March 27
The Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association (HDLGBA) Egg Hunt will be a dynamic, socially distanced ‘hop-through’ experience instead of a free-for-all as in previous years. On Saturday, March 27, 2021 from noon - 4 p.m. in Brother’s Field, located across from the Chatterbox Restaurant, participants who have pre-registered are invited to bring their own baskets and walk through an Easter-themed field, stopping at attractions while a live DJ sets the tone. Children can have photos taken with the Easter Bunny before receiving a goodie bag and a take-home craft. Attendees can continue the fun by hopping throughout downtown on a jelly bean hunt at participating merchants. All visitors are asked to wear face covers or masks and practice social distancing. For more information, click here.

Due to COVID-19 mitigations announced by the Illinois Governor, please visit the HDLGBA website for any updates relating to downtown Long Grove events.
