Mrs. Neal Leading the Linden Class!
We are happy to announce that Mrs. Denise Neal will be staying with the Linden 2nd grade class through the end of this school year!

While Mrs. Neal plans to return to teaching Games and Movement next school year, she has a temporary injury that limits her physical mobility for that role for the remainder of this year. The slower physical pace has been helpful for her while her injury is being repaired. She has also admitted to have fallen in love with the class!

We are arranging for a long-term substitute for Games and Movement, while looking for a strong class teacher for the Linden Class next fall.
Lunch Bunch Postponed
Lunch Bunch groups with Ms. Cori are temporarily postponed. She will continue to meet with students individually. For questions, please contact Cori Karasiuk: ckarasiuk@mountainsongschool.com.

Friends of Tonga
Extending Friendship and Aid
from Ms. Keiser
Hello Mountain Song Families!

As many of you may already know, a few weeks ago there was a massive volcanic eruption off the coast of a small South Pacific island nation called Tonga. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer and Teacher in Tonga for over a year.  My first classroom was in Tu’anuku, Tonga, where I taught English and ran the library.  I still feel a deep connection to this place, and the news of the tsunami wave and ash cloud are incredibly saddening.

Since the eruption of the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’apai volcano, Tonga has been cut off from the world.  Their internet connection was severed and the ash kept satellite communications from going through.  The information that we are getting is that many homes have been destroyed by the tsunami, that food is scarce, and that most drinkable water has been contaminated by volcanic ash. This week, we saw videos of volunteers swimming from boats to small islands to provide 5 gallon containers of water.

If you are able, consider donating to the relief efforts going on now. Friends of Tonga, a nonprofit run by former Peace Corps Tonga volunteers, has a goal of raising $100,000 to distribute to families and local organizations already on the ground.  Join me in extending friendship and care by donating to Friends of Tonga here.

‘Ofa atu and malo ‘aupito!
Love to you and thank you so much!
