Message from Lisa
Hello to Summer and hot days that just want to make you stay inside with the AC running and just sew. I have really been focusing on finishing projects this year and clearing out projects that are half done. Take those few blocks and make something small and move it on out of your way. There are many ways to donate smaller quilts to many locations. Nursing homes, NICU's or the ASK foundation at VCU's cancer wing for children. So, take time to clear out a few overlooked projects and make room for new and exciting things. I recently did this and came up with 1 nursing home quilt and about 5 doll quilts for donations. It makes me feel good to just move things out to a better place than just being stuck in a box in my closet or on a shelf.

I hope that you have had a chance to relax a little since the start of summer. I sure had a great time on my much needed vacation. We all need a little time to just rest and relax to get our minds restarted. With that being said, we have a few things that I hope will interest you for July. We have a road trip to a wonderful store in Frederick, MD and this is open to anyone who wants to go. Details below. Then we have a Flag class in July, and I have two different patterns that you can choose from. Along with our normal Thursday sew ladies (Quilter's Daycare), our monthly Wool friends we have our monthly Quilting Sisters that you can join and learn new things there. We have lots to keep you and me extremely busy. So find a way to connect with our groups and make new friends. Quilting ladies are the best friends you can have for life.

See you soon!

Lisa

Quilting Sisters
Learning and having a heart of giving is what this group is about. We constantly want to learn new things and be challenged at making our work better. But we also have a heart of giving to those who need it. We will be using the conference room at the Firehouse, 1956 Urbine Road, Powhatan, VA 23139. We start at 9 AM and sew until 1 PM.

Our next meeting is July 8th, starting at 9 am. We will be making pillowcases this month. We have many kits already completed that just need to be sewn together. Thanks to Colleen for coordinating this project. Please bring a machine to sew with and if you have a SERGER please bring that also. This is a great project that is a lot of fun to do and helps a great cause. If you have quilts to donate for our location, please bring those or any show and tell for the group. We love to see your quilts that you have completed.

We support a nursing home in Farmville, and you can give those quilts to Betsy and she will deliver those when they need them.

Future Projects:
August -
September -
October - Three Yard Challenge Quilts
November - Veterans Appreciation Day
December - Silent Auction & Breakfast
Wooly Friends Group
Welcome to a very new and special group of ladies. Our next meeting is Tuesday, July 18th. ROAD TRIP! - on the 18th to Primitive Homespun Wool and Needle Works. This shop just moved and we will have a private opening just for our group. We will have access to lots of things including fabric and collectables. Please plan on joining our group for this trip. It will be a long day but well worth the fun! We will depart from JoAnn's at Westchester by 7 AM. We are trying to get box lunches for our trip delivered to the shop so we can eat and spend our money in one location. I need to have a head count by Friday, July 14th. Let's support this Shop by showing up. Thanks to Phyllis for coordinating this shop visit.

Sip & Sew Gathering
We will be having a Saturday Sip & Sew on August 26th. This gives our full-time workers a chance to join us and have some fun. So, pack a snack and Lisa will have a cold icy drink ready if you want one. Make sure you bring your project to work on or just come and talk with everyone. It is a great day! Starts at 9 AM!
Flag Class
I decided to offer two different patterns for the flag class. So, look at the pictures and let me know if you want to join our group on July 22nd to make a flag for your collection. Either one is fun to make and about the same size. Salute requires two different rulers.

The Patchwork Flag quilt is a little easier with just cutting. Grab those red, white and blue fabrics this weekend while you can find them!

Quilters Daycare Group
Quilter's Daycare is a Thursday sew group. Please make sure that you slide over and make room for everyone that wants to sew. We have an additional room that can hold only 4 sewers. We want everyone to feel welcome. We have missed many of you. Your $5 covers your seat charge each Thursday. See you soon! Reminder the door opens at 9 am, not earlier. (I'm with mom getting her up and ready for her day)
Prayers for many of our quilting sisters.....
Keep in our prayers. Lynah, Merci and her mom, Mildred, Katina who is recovering nicely and many others. So please pray for healing and traveling mercies for our Quilting Sisters. We have a very special group of ladies and you each have a special place in my heart! Lisa
Thanks and see you soon!
We have a new Purple Bag for our quilting customers. Please bring a bag with your project that you are dropping off. Thanks!
Payment is accepted by Cash, Check, Venmo, Zelle or Paypal.

See you soon! Trixie and Lisa
