WELCOME BACK, RAIDERS!

We hope you had a restful summer! We are excited to see you back on campus would like to share a warm welcome with new students, faculty, and staff who have just joined the Raider family!


We are thrilled to welcome you all into the Culture and Identity Centers' brand new spaces at 019 and 023 Student Union, on the lower level across the hall from the radio station and Student Legal Services.


Please mark your calendars for Wednesday, August 30, 3-5pm when we are holding a welcome reception and celebrating the newest addition, the Disability and Neurodivergence Cultural Center, with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Come by to explore the new spaces, catch up and make new connections, and enjoy refreshments!

Operation Native Plants Service Project w/ ANA Center & IACSA

Saturday, August 26, 9am-12pm

Join current students, community leaders, and the Indigenous Studies faculty in a service project to clear a bed of ivy on campus and plant seeds of wildflowers and pollinators in its place. The new plants will be species native to Fairborn. Volunteers will be eligible for a lunch voucher to use in the Union Market. Capacity limit is 20; please RSVP on Engage.

Student Assistant, Asian and Native American Center

The ANA Center seeks up to two highly motivated, energetic, organized, creative, and committed student assistants who are dedicated to supporting the mission of ANA. On a daily basis, student assistants will interact with faculty, staff, students, and other visitors to the Culture and Identity Centers and the ANA Center. Student assistants are expected to be personable, timely, organized, work in a diverse environment, have working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, demonstrate excellent customer service, be able to follow through with assigned tasks, communicate with AD about needed support and clarification; and have a clear understanding of the services and mission of ANA. Student Associate, Division of Inclusive Excellence

Introduction to International Education Workshop Series

Apply by September 30; workshops run October through March


Up to two students will be selected to represent WSU in the Ohio International Consortium's "Introduction to International Education" Workshop Series. This series is designed for students curious about careers in international education but who have not yet had an international experience. Participants will explore careers in international education, have an opportunity to job shadow and network with leaders in the field, and learn how to document this experience during their job search. BIPOC Community Fellow, Oberlin College

The Center for Intercultural Engagement seeks applications for a Program Fellow for the Multicultural Resource Commons (MRC). This is a 9-month live-on Administrative and Professional Staff position designed for a recent college graduate or early-career professional who reports to the Program Coordinator of the MRC. Successful candidates will have experience with programming and support for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. This is a one-year position with the possibility of a second-year renewal and includes an on-campus apartment and a meal plan when dining services are in session. Volunteer with NCCJ Teen Summit

The National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) of Greater Dayton's Teen Summit provides high school students with resources and skills that they can utilize to make changes in their school around topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion. This year, the theme is "Stigma: Overcoming Discrimination and Supporting Healing." Teen Summit will host 20 high schools in the Greater Miami Valley region. The Teen Summit encourages students to build networks of passionate youth leaders in their district. As a group, these leaders build projects to impact their district and community. NCCJ is in need of motivated college volunteers to help facilitate. Facilitators are responsible for leading their assigned group of high school students through the exercises as they work through the curriculum. Volunteer trainings are available October 10 and 12, the Teen Summit is on October 19. 17 high school students completed the inaugural Latino Center Summer Program

Wright State hosts inaugural Latino Center Summer Program for high school students


Seventeen area high school students participated in Wright State University’s inaugural Latino Center Summer Program, which offered them the opportunity to learn college success strategies, get tips on career readiness and receive hands-on experiences with the university’s six colleges. Wright State staff, students a big part of Asian American storytelling project, "Asian in Ohio"


When people think of Asian American communities, Chinatowns such as in San Francisco or New York come to mind. But the Midwest––Ohio in general and Dayton in particular––has pockets of Asian Americans who might go unnoticed or be misperceived. Now, though, individual stories about those of Asian descent, including several from Wright State University, are coming to light through a special project called “Asian in Ohio” produced by Midstory, a Toledo-based nonprofit media group.
