On April 4th, 2020, the Department of Transportation Office of Drug and Alcohol Policy and Compliance (ODAPC) released a statement allowing Substance Abuse Professionals (SAP) to perform remote evaluations during this COVID-19 pandemic.
They also provided leniency concerning the re-qualification timelines for collectors, Medical Review Officers (MRO), Screening Test Technicians (STT) and Breath Alcohol Technicians (BAT), and SAPs. If a service agent is unable to meet their re-qualification due date while this statement of enforcement discretion is in effect, DOT will not consider it a non-compliance. DOT will consider these service agents qualified.
Those whose certificates are expiring may continue to provide these services after expiration without refresher or renewal training while this policy is in effect.
This policy has now been extended to June 30, 2021
